Cairo Design Biennale is the first event of its kind in Egypt created to honor outstanding Egyptian designers and recognize emerging talent. The concept of Cairo Design Biennale was founded in early 2014 by the Egyptian architect Dalia Sadany, Chairman of Dalia Sadany Dezines and presiding President of the International Association of Designers (IAD) headquartered in Como, Italy. nale was later adopted by ASDA Sustainable Development Association (est. July 2015). The idea behind the event was to establish a platform for celebrating and recognizing Egyptian designers in all fields of design as well as spread awareness about the importance of design in transforming society. Cairo Design Biennale 2014 was staged at the Manial Palace under the patronage of the International Association of Designers (IAD) and the Egyptian Tourism Authority (ETA) under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism.
