We’re honored to be featured in I+S Design, highlighting the partnership between New Hope Girls and Nassimi and the impact it’s creating for women and girls. Here are a few highlights from the story.
What happens when something overlooked is given a new purpose?
A partnership between New Hope Girls and Nassimi is turning donated and closeout fabrics into something far greater than beautiful bags and accessories.
It began after Cathleen Domen of Nassimi visited New Hope Girls in the Dominican Republic and saw firsthand the work being done to rescue, restore, and empower girls and women. She returned home with a simple idea: What if materials that could no longer be used by Nassimi’s customers could be put to work at New Hope Girls?
That idea became a partnership.
Nassimi has provided thousands of yards of high-quality fabric that New Hope Girls artisans transform into handcrafted products. In the process, materials that might otherwise go unused are creating dignified employment and income for women while helping fund the larger mission of rescue, refuge, education, and restoration.
It’s a beautiful example of what can happen when organizations look at what they already have and ask how it might be used to create hope.
As Joy Reyes shared, “There is something so empowering about creating beauty and then giving it away and inviting other people into it.”
We’re grateful to Nassimi for continuing to invest in the women and girls of New Hope Girls—and to I+S Design for sharing the story.
