🌋 Magellan³ Workshop Announcement: SHREK - Submarine Hazards, Responses, and Eruption cycles from Kikai caldera
Interested in the evolution, impacts, and dynamics of large-scale volcanic systems?
Join us at Kobe University, Japan for a workshop to co-develop upcoming research activities exploring the Kikai Caldera and regional volcano-tectonic dynamics through scientific ocean drilling.
SHREK seeks to bring together marine geoscientists, volcanologists, geochemists, microbiologists, geophysicists, palaeoceanographers (and many more!) to shape a new IODP/ICDP drilling strategy for understanding the evolution, hazards, and recovery of the Kikai caldera system.
🗓 WHEN: March 15–17, 2027
📍 WHERE: Kobe University, Japan
Early Career Researchers are strongly encouraged to apply! Travel support is available to assist attendees and we seek active ECR participation in advancing this proposal.
