► – A Transnational Case from China
📍Vosstraße 2, 69115 Heidelberg, CATS Auditorium
How are public narratives about consent, credibility, and justice shaped in the digital age? Join us for a thought-provoking talk by QI Chen (Freiburg University), who will examine a high-profile transnational case involving a Chinese student’s alleged r**e claim against a prominent Chinese business figure in the United States.
The presentation explores how edited visual evidence, strategic mistranslation, online misogyny, and censorship influenced public perceptions of the case and contributed to the shaming of the alleged victim. At the same time, it highlights how feminist activists challenged these dynamics through counter-discourse and forms of critical feminist solidarity. Organized in cooperation with the Institute of Sinology and the Centre for Asian and Transcultural Studies (CATS) at Heidelberg University.
