HAUKARI e.V. - Arbeitsgemeinschaft für internationale Zusammenarbeit Haukari e.V. (haukari.de) unterstützt Frauen in Kurdistan-Irak, die Opfer sozialer und politischer Gewalt sind. HAUKARI e.V.

ist ein gemeinnütziger Verein zur Förderung internationaler Entwicklung, Verständigung und Solidarität. Regionaler Schwerpunkt unserer Arbeit sind die kurdischen Gebiete im Irak. Dort und in anderen irakischen Regionen fördern wir soziale Basisprojekte, insbesondere im Bereich Frauenförderung und Gesundheitswesen. Ein weiterer Schwerpunkt ist die Arbeit mit Opfern politischer Gewalt. In Europa inf

ormieren wir über die Situation im Irak und setzen uns für eine politische Lösung der Konflikte in der Region ein. Unsere Projekte werden finanziert aus Spenden und Mitteln von BMZ, ifa projekt zivik, DEZA Schweiz, Caritas Schweiz, medico international, OXFAM Deutschland u.a. besitzt das Spendensiegel des DZI (Deutsches Institut für soziale Fragen). We are a non-profit organisation that aims at international development, intercultural understanding and solidarity. Our work's regional focus is on the Kurdish region in Iraq. We support social grassroot projects, especially in the fields of women's rights and healthcare. Furthermore, we work with victims of political violence. In Europe, we provide information on the situation in Iraq and campaign for a political solution to the region's conflicts.

_June 2026 activities_
took part in the GBV-Working Group meeting, where representatives of 30 organizations and institutions discussed strategic priorities for the second half of 2026 and preparations for the upcoming 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence campaign. Participants highlighted the importance of collaboration and coordinated action to protect and empower women and girls.

Khanzad Organization also participated in a two-day workshop on GBV (Gender-Based Violence) during crises, organized by Zhina Tandrusti Organization in cooperation with UNFPA. The training brought together GBV actors, shelter representatives, and partner organizations to strengthen coordination and response mechanisms in emergency settings.

A group of religious scholars from the Garmian region visited Maryam House to learn more about its mission in remembrance and preserving the memory and history of the survivors and victims of the Anfal campaign.
During the visit, the guests engaged in meaningful discussions about the Anfal campaign and its lasting impact on society, highlighting the importance of remembrance, education, and collective responsibility in safeguarding historical memory. Moreover, they expressed their appreciation for the projects and activities implemented by HAUKARI e.V. in the Garmian region.

Book Presentation and Discussion 📚
The Rizgari Foundation, with support from HAUKARI e.V., organized an event to present and discuss the book "“The Revolt of Ibrahim Khan Dalo 1920", written by Mustafa Nariman.
The book was presented and discussed by Saman Karim, a lecturer at the Garmian Polytechnic University. The event offered valuable insights into the history and legacy of Ibrahim Khan Dalo. At the end, the participants got a copy of the book as a gift.

As part of the project "Reclaiming Social Medi World", Organization, with support from HAUKARI e.V. and in collaboration with the DCVAW (Directorate for Combating Violence against Women and Family) and the Mastura Institute MIPSS, continued its efforts to strengthen digital safety and community awareness through a series of cybersecurity trainings and awareness seminars. The activities focused on enhancing technical cybersecurity skills for DCVAW staff and raising awareness about the psychological and social impacts of cybercrime among youth, educators, researchers, and students.

We are happy to announce that the discussion paper ‘Contextualisation of Psychosocial Knowledge’ is now available in Kurdish.

The paper is based on a series of workshops from May 2023 to May 2024 with academics and practitioners of psychosocial work from Kurdistan-Iraq, South Africa and Germany. It was published by the Mastura Institute of Applied Science in Psychosocial Work, HAUKARI e.V. and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).
