Lesung mit Bachtiyar Ali am Mittwoch, den 21.10.26 um 18.30 Uhr in der Evangelischen Akademie zu Berlin, Charlottenstr. 53/54, 10117 Berlin

Wir möchten Euch sehr gerne auf eine Lesung des bekannten kurdischen Schriftstellers und Dichters Bachtiyar Ali hinweisen. Er ist unter anderem Autor des auch in Deutschland bekannten Romans "Der letzte Granatapfel"
Veranstaltet wird die Lesung von "The Amargi", eine basis-finanzierte Online Medienplattform mit Schwerpunkt Kurdistan und Naher Osten. Es wird eine englische Übersetzung geben.

We warmly invite you to an evening with Bachtiyar Ali: Love in Times of Ruin, a special event series by The Amargi in Berlin. On October 21, The Amargi welcomes renowned Kurdish novelist Bachtiyar Ali for two public conversations on love, hatred, literature and society. Together with moderators from The Amargi, he will explore whether love can become a form of resistance in times of war, violence, polarization and social rupture — and how literature can confront hatred, extremism and the realities of a troubled political age.

On Monday the 12th of October, we had the pleasure of Karin Mlodoch from HAUKARI e.V, and Marcella Katjijova, head of the intergenerational trauma and recovery section of Ovaherero genocide foundation under (Ovaherero Traditional authority) OTA, leading the annual address at Sigmund Freud Private University. The evening was filled with discourses on emancipatory psychological practice, psychological counselling in different contexts and transgenerational trauma.

Additionally, on Wednesday the 14th of October, Marcella Katjijova participated in the debate in the German Federal Parliament for the full recognition of the genocide of Ovaherero and Nama people, as part of the group of descendents of the Ovaherero survivors.

Next Monday, 12th of October, the Sigmund Freud Private University Berlin will host their annual welcome address for the department of psychology.
This year the University and its members will celebrate Karin Mlodoch award for the "2026 Engagement Award for Lifetime Achievement" from the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development, for her work with HAUKARI e.V.

This open to public event has the honor to present speeches from Karin Mlodoch and Marcella Katjijova, on the subjects of emancipatory psychological practice, psychological counscelling in different contexts and transgenerational trauma.

Am kommenden Montag, dem 12. Oktober, findet an der Sigmund-Freud-Privatuniversität Berlin die jährliche Begrüßungsveranstaltung des Fachbereichs Psychologie statt.
In diesem Jahr feiern die Universität und ihre Mitglieder die Verleihung des „Engagementpreises 2026 für das Lebenswerk“ des Bundesministeriums für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung an Karin Mlodoch für ihre Arbeit mit HAUKARI e.V.

Im Rahmen dieser öffentlich zugänglichen Veranstaltung werden Karin Mlodoch und Marcella Katjijova Vorträge zu folgenden Themen halten:

BMZ-Engagementpreis 2026 in der Kategorie Lebenswerk für Karin Mlodoch und HAUKARI e.V.

Am 5. September 2026 erhielt Karin Mlodoch, Gründungs- und Vorstandsmitglied von HAUKARI e.V., den Engagementpreis des Bundesministeriums für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung 2026 in der Kategorie Lebenswerk .
Bundesministerin Reem Alabali Radovan verlieh den Preis an sieben Preisträger*innen „in Anerkennung für ihr Engagement für internationale Solidarität und Zusammenarbeit – gerade in Zeiten von zunehmendem Nationalismus, Abschottung und einem lauter werdenden 'Wir zuerst'“.

Der Preis würdigt die mehr als 30jährige Arbeit von HAUKARI e.V. zur Stärkung der Zivilgesellschaft in der Kurdischen Region Irak und die Unterstützung von Überlebenden von Gewalt, Frauen und jungen Menschen und Karins persönlichen Einsatz in der Region.

Wir gratulieren Karin und freuen uns mit ihr über diese Anerkennung unserer Arbeit. Wir danken unseren kurdischen-irakischen Mitarbeiter*innen und Partner*innen, die die Arbeit von HAUKARI e.V. seit mehr als 30 Jahren tragen und gestalten, dem HAUKARI-Team in Deutschland und denken heute ganz besonders an unsere im letzten Jahr verstorbene Mit-Gründerin und Kollegin Susanne Bötte.

Wir gratulieren den anderen Preisträger*innen Gloria Niiquaye, Batya Blankers, Julius Latzel, Shakil Syed und Nataliia Fiebrig. Der Politikwissenschaftler und entwicklungspolitische Aktivist Jens Martens wurde posthum geehrt. Unser Respekt und Mitgefühl gelten seiner Familie.

In diesen Zeiten sozialer Kälte und Militarisirung engagieren wir uns weiter gemeinsam mit unseren kurdisch-irakischen und internationalen Partner*innen für eine solidarische Welt!

BMZ Engagement Award 2026 in the Lifetime Achievement Category for Karin Mlodoch and HAUKARI e.V.

On September 5, 2026, Karin Mlodoch, founding and board member of HAUKARI e.V., received the 2026 Engagement Award from the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development in the Lifetime Achievement Category.

Federal Minister Ms. Reem Alabali Radovan presented the award to a total of seven recipients “in recognition of their commitment to international solidarity and cooperation – especially in times of increasing nationalism, isolationism, and a growing 'us first' mentality.”

The award recognizes HAUKARI e.V.'s more than 30 years of work strengthening civil society in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq and supporting survivors of violence, women, and young people, as well as Karin's personal commitment to the region.

We congratulate Karin and share in her joy at this appreciation of our work.
We thank our Kurdish-Iraqi staff and partners who have shaped the work of HAUKARI e.V. for more than 30 years, the HAUKARI team in Germany. And today we are thinking especially of our co-founder and colleague Susanne Bötte, who passed away last year.

We congratulate the other award winners: Gloria Niiquaye, Batya Blankers , Julius Latzel , Shakil Syed and Nataliia Fiebrig. Political scientist and development activist Jens Martens was posthumously honored. Our respect and condolences go to his family.

We are shocked and very saddened to hear about the sudden and much too early passing away of Mr. Mohammed Jaza. Mohammed Jaza was a clinical psychologist and active member of the research group at the Mastura Institute of Applied Science in Psychosocial Work, our partner in psychosocial knowledge production and exchange in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
We will miss Mohammed Jaza’s expertise and contribution. Our thoughts are with his wife and his family.
