Post GR14 was deeply honored to participate in the City of Büdingen’s solemn Volkstrauertag Memorial Service on November 16th.

Following the beautiful service at the Remigius Church, we joined our esteemed colleagues, the Reservisten Kameradschaft Büdingen (RK Büdingen), along with representatives from the City of Büdingen, for the wreath-laying ceremony at the memorials. It was, indeed, a truly dignified and moving event.

We were proud to stand alongside our German comrades to honor:

The German fallen of World War I and II.

The brave American veterans who served in this region (including Armstrong Kaserne) and lost their lives serving their country while stationed in Germany over the last 50 years.

Thank you to the RK Büdingen, the City of Büdingen, and all who attended and helped organize this powerful display of international friendship and remembrance. The spirit of unity and respect was palpable.

Did you know ...

In recognition of The American Legion's 90th birthday in 2009, the Senate and House of Representatives passed a resolution designating Sept. 16 as “American Legion Day." ⁠ ⁠The measure was shepherded through the Senate by then-Sen. Olympia Snowe, R-Maine, who praised the Legion for its continued aid to wounded veterans and military families, legacy of community volunteerism and significant role in establishing important national legislation. ⁠
”…The American Legion remains today an active and vigorous advocate for servicemembers, veterans, and their families here on Capitol Hill.”
