At 14, Kareem is chasing big dreams on the football field. 🏈

Born with clubfoot in Minneapolis, Kareem started treatment at Gillette Children’s Hospital when he was just one week old. Today, he’s a high school freshman with his sights set on the varsity football team and, one day, the NFL.

His story reminds us what's possible when children get the care they need early in life.

This year, our annual external assessment surveyed parents of children who received clubfoot treatment at MiracleFeet-supported clinics in Uganda, giving us valuable insight into how treatment impacts a child’s life long after the last cast is removed.

The results? Overwhelming confirmation that clubfoot treatment not only transforms a child’s feet but opens doors to new experiences, friendships, and possibilities.

"Many parents still attach clubfoot to societal myths, superstitions, and witchcraft practices," says Rebecca Nakiwala, supervisor of the clubfoot unit at the Luweero General Hospital in Uganda.

Although clubfoot is fully treatable, misconceptions and stigma can prevent children from receiving the care they need. By raising awareness and educating expectant mothers, we can help challenge harmful beliefs, reduce stigma, and ensure more children receive timely treatment.

Nine-year-old Fausto was born with clubfoot in Ecuador. Thanks to his family's tenacity and the treatment he received from our local partner, he can now do what Spiders do best: climb, crawl, swing, jump, and have exciting adventures. ❤️

Our partners reported that the lack of an easy-to-use, affordable brace was the biggest barrier to scaling clubfoot treatment in their countries.
