This edition of Faces of ASAF features two inspiring members whose Erasmus+ journeys showcase resilience, adaptability, and determination.

🔹 Oumar Tidiane Diakite – Engineer, entrepreneur, and Erasmus+ alumnus whose academic journey was marked by unexpected challenges and remarkable perseverance. His experience demonstrates how resilience and commitment can turn obstacles into opportunities for success.

🔹 Josefina Abed – Erasmus+ alumna and advocate for intercultural learning whose mobility experience during the COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the importance of adaptability, cultural understanding, and lifelong learning in an ever-changing world.

Their stories remind us that every Erasmus+ journey is unique, shaped by personal challenges, discoveries, and achievements that leave a lasting impact far beyond the mobility experience itself.

🇳🇬 Chidimma Anthonia Anyikwa
From navigating mobility during the COVID-19 period to exploring the landscapes of Cameroon, Chidimma’s journey is a powerful example of adaptability and curiosity. Her time at the University of Yaoundé was not only rich in cultural discovery—from hiking mountains to visiting museums—but also instrumental in achieving outstanding research outcomes that supported the completion of her Master’s degree.

🇨🇲 Nguefack Leopold-Juvence
Through the ESIMSAD program at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Leopold-Juvence experienced the strength of collaboration, mentorship, and innovation. Being part of a dynamic network of young scientists inspired his commitment to advancing sustainable development and contributing to Africa’s green energy transition.

From 16–19 April 2026, more than 1,300 participants from across Europe and beyond came together at the Erasmus Generation Meeting 2026, widely recognised as the largest student-led conference in Europe, under the theme “Port of Mobility – Gateway to Skills.”
As part of the programme, ASAF contributed to the interactive session “Cooperation across borders: a life skill”. Representing Africa and the Middle East, ASAF brought regional perspectives into a dynamic simulation where participants took on the role of international actors, working together to address global challenges.
This session was delivered alongside sister networks of the ESAA liaison : OCEANS Network for Erasmus+ Alumni (Latin America), Western Balkans Alumni Association (Western Balkans & Eastern Partnership), and Asia-Europe Foundation (Asia) — showcasing the strength of cross-regional cooperation.
Through this contribution, ASAF highlighted the importance of dialogue, local context, and youth-led collaboration in building meaningful and sustainable partnerships across borders.

The African Students and Alumni Forum (ASAF) is pleased to invite you to participate in the ASAF Open Conference – Erasmus+ Outreach Event.

This event aims to promote Erasmus+ and other European Union opportunities in West Africa, raising awareness among students, alumni, and higher education stakeholders in Liberia. Through collaboration with the Erasmus+ National Focal Point (ENFP) and the Delegation of the European Union, the conference will improve access to information on mobility and cooperation programmes.
