Windsor Essex Disc Golf Windsor Essex Disc Golf is working to promote the sport of disc golf in the Essex County area through But that is about to change.

Disc Golf is an all ages, life long sport that is played year round in over 5,500 courses worldwide. Currently Windsor-Essex County has only once course at Lakewood Park in Tecumseh. Windsor-Essex DG’s primary activities:
*Organize tournaments and leagues to provide fun competition for our members, and a showcase for spectators.

*Utilize our course design expertise to facilitate new course instal

lations by working with local municipalities or land-owners.

*Provide training, workshops and work with local school systems to incorporate disc golf into the physical education curriculum.

*Support local businesses and charities through sponsorship programs and fundraising efforts.

LENDING LIBRARY FORCED INTO PARTIAL CLOSURE

Sad and very disappointed to report that the unlocked Lending Library has to close.
Since its inception a little over a year ago, the library was a HUGE success allowing people to give disc golf a try.
Sadly over 100 discs have been stolen from the box and not returned. 2025 saw the library slowly cleaned out over the first few months until all discs disappeared by fall.
In June of 2026 a full library of 25 discs was cleaned out in just 7 days.

Going forward we are forced to lock the box to protect from theft.
Several club members will have a key to the lock.
It is not ideal.
If you see someone who looks like and established player/club member, ask them if they have access to the Library box. These assistant Librarians will be more than happy to try and help you out. When finished with your round, please return the disc to the Lost Box slot.

FYI. Taste of Tecumseh is taking place this Friday and Saturday at Lakewood Park South. Access to the parking lot will be restricted after 5 on those days.

Lakewood basket update. The front 9 have been changed out along with one practice basket. The back 9 scheduled for tomorrow. Once all are in the custom band will be applied.
They not only look great but catch discs much better than the previous targets. Very exciting!

Exciting News. The Lakewood Disc Golf course is getting a Basket upgrade!
The existing Mach III baskets have served us well but have become outdated and notorious for Chain outs.
The upgrade will be to Discraft Chainstar PRO. The same baskets being used at the Disc Golf Worlds in Michigan in August.

The Lakewood Disc golf course is a GREAT course. Recently named one of the top 100 in Canada. A great course deserves great baskets. The new baskets in conjunction with the 10th Anniversary of the course, will be installed the week of June 1.
This will be just in time for the Grand Opening of the new Event plaza at Lakewood on June 7, and the National Amateur Disc Golf Tournament on Saturday August 1.

A HUGE thanks to the Town of Tecumseh for their support of Disc Golf.

Chainlink Disc Golf will be working on the upgrade next week. The course will not be closed. But if you are out playing during the day and come across a hole with work being done please skip that hole.
The basket upgrade should be complete by end of day Thursday June 4th.
