Viola has limited reading and writting skills, but she also knows her margins better than most business owners.

After going through our Business Development Program, Viola adopted a custom ledger system designed to work for her. Today she can tell you exactly what she earns on each design of cement block her company produces.

The loans in this program run from $200 to $3,000. The 99% repayment rate is the result of what happens when you build a program around relationships and trust.

Getting to the communities we work with in Lofa County isn't quick. It's a full-day drive from Monrovia, and the roads have opinions. Halfway there, somewhere in Zorzor, Kent stopped to fix a flat tire and found local bean soup with fish being served off the side of the road.

The work we do at Universal Outreach Foundation takes us to places most people haven't heard of. Voinjama. Robertsport. Villages where beekeeping training or a small loan can shift the entire trajectory of a family.

Showing up is the whole thing. The road, the detours, the soup. That's the gift.

Universal Outreach’s Small Loans Program gives hardworking entrepreneurs in Liberia the chance to build a stable income and support their families.

Donors contribute anywhere from $100 to $2,000, which is loaned to a vetted entrepreneur to grow or start a business. Each borrower receives business training and support to help ensure success.

Once the loan is paid back, the same funds are re-loaned to another entrepreneur, multiplying the impact again and again.

We see your donation as seed capital for a better Liberia, going to fund programs that serve education and economic empowerment. Every program we launch starts the way a startup does: find a market, build a business plan, run the financials.

You could think about funding these programs as “venture donations.” Not because donors get their money back, but because the funds go directly into programs with long lasting impact after the initial spend.

The difference between a donation and a business investment is that the social return is guaranteed. When we plant 3,000 coconut trees with donated funds, those trees produce oil and income for years for the Liberian economy.
