Every Child Matters

A day of reflection, learning, and meaningful dialogue at Baitul Islam Mosque. We were privileged to host community members and Indigenous guest speakers for our Truth and Reconciliation event.

Beyond remembering the past, this gathering was a testament to the shared values between our communities—standing for justice, honoring lost lives, and walking the path of reconciliation together.

Thank you Elder Jimmy Dick and all who joined us in solidarity.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Abbotsford attended an Orange Shirt Day event today at the Mission Friendship Centre. We are grateful to the Executive Director for the kind invitation.

The orange shirt is a symbol of the loss of culture, freedom, and self-esteem experienced by Indigenous children over generations, and serves as a reminder of the importance of reconciliation and healing.

Mr. Rizwan Peerzada, President of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Abbotsford, spoke for a few minutes on the importance of reconciliation and the principle that Every Child Matters.

We were blessed to participate in the Treaty 6 – 150th Anniversary Celebration through our Ahmadiyya Muslim & Indigenous Friendship Desk.

It was a wonderful experience engaging with so many visitors and building bridges with our Indigenous brothers and sisters. A major highlight was welcoming Honourable Chief Pete Okimaw and Councillors from Onion Lake First Nation to our stall. They shared kind words of appreciation for our efforts, mentioned their existing connection with the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Saskatoon, and expressed a keen interest in collaborating on future events.

We are truly thankful for this opportunity to promote peace, respect, and unity. May Allah bless these endeavors and grant us more chances to work together in the future.
