Are you participating in this year’s Cabbagetown Festival? Be sure you’re up to date with all road closures and detours, as well as the noise permits.

Road Closures:
September 12th, 6am to September 13th, 11pm

Event Times:
September 12th, 11am-8pm, September 13th, 11am-7pm

Noise Exemption Condition(s):
• The exemption permit shall be posted in a visible location to the public where each event or activity will occur 7 days prior to the start of the event or activity, and shall remain for the duration of the event or activity. If the applicant is unable to post a notice of the exemption permit at the physical location of the event or activity, the Executive Director may permit the permit holder to post it online in a conspicuous manner.
• The sound emitted from any equipment shall not exceed a sound level (expressed in terms of Leq for a ten-minute period):
• (a) For amplified sound, of 85 dB(A) or 105 dB(C) when measured from the lot line of the property where the event or activity is occurring; or
• (b) For any other event or activity, of 85 dB(A) or 105 dB(C) when measured 20 metres from the source;
• The applicant shall comply with any request made by a Bylaw Enforcement Officer with respect to the volume of sound, up to and including lowering sound levels to be compliant with the bylaw or providing identification to the officer on request.
• No equipment other than the equipment approved under the exemption permit shall be used by the applicant.
• Each event or activity shall be restricted to only the approved location.
• The Executive Director may revoke an exemption permit, with or without notice, if there is non-compliance any of the exemption permit’s conditions if required by the Executive Director.
• The sound emitted from any equipment shall not exceed a sound level (expressed in terms of Leq for a ten-minute period) of 85 dB(A) or 105 dB(C) when measured from the lot line of the property where the event or activity is occurring.

What an incredible way to wrap up the Around the World Pop Ups! 🌎✨

Our final week was filled with unforgettable moments—from inspiring young readers at Kabbagetown Kids Day Storytime and getting everyone moving at the Kabbagetown Kids Day Dance Party, to being amazed by the Circus Walk, discovering local flavours on the Cabbagetown Food Tour, and exploring the neighbourhood’s history on the Cabbagetown Walking Tour.

Over the past six weeks, we’ve celebrated culture, creativity, community, and connection through workshops, performances, tours, family activities, and shared experiences. None of it would have been possible without our incredible event partners, local businesses, performers, volunteers, and everyone who attended along the way.

Thank you for making Around the World Pop Ups such a memorable celebration of everything that makes Cabbagetown so special. If you attended any of our Pop-Up events and want to give us feedback, send us a dm to get a link to our survey! Spread the word! The Kabbagetown Kids Day event has changed locations due to expected rain tomorrow. But fret not, our new location, the Cabbagetown Community Arts Centre is more than equipped to handle the dancing, face painting and joyful games that we have planned for our Kabbagetown Kids.

Week 5 of Around the World Pop Ups was filled with music, storytelling, culture, and community! 🌎✨

This week, we celebrated the power of connection through the Intercultural Music Experience, discovered local talent during our Music Crawl, inspired young readers at Reading Day with The Children’s Book Bank, enjoyed an unforgettable performance at the Seyblu Music Experience, learned through rhythm at the Indigenous Drum Circle, and gathered over tradition and conversation during the Shalom Coffee Ceremonies.

Every event offered a unique opportunity to experience new cultures, meet neighbours, and celebrate the vibrant diversity that makes Cabbagetown such a welcoming community.

A heartfelt thank you to all of our performers, partners, volunteers, and everyone who came out to participate. Your enthusiasm and support continue to make Around the World Pop Ups a truly special celebration of community.
