Today is Children and Youth in Care Day in Ontario! πŸ’™

At Rosalie Hall, we are proud to stand with the resilient young people in and from care. This year’s theme, , invites us to empower the youth to have agency over their stories, their journeys, and their experiences. Because they are not defined by the systems they navigate, but by who they are, their achievements, and the futures they are working to build.

As captured in David Lewis-Peart’s poem "Forget Me Not," many of our youth have "lifted through concrete" to bloom against impossible odds. But no one should have to grow alone. They are seen, they are heard, and they are never forgotten. And they have the power to tell their stories and grow from them.

We all have a role to play in helping these young people blossom. Whether it’s through mentorship, advocacy, or simply celebrating their journey, let’s make sure every child and youth knows they belong to a community that cares.

Sound the alarm! 🚨 Our Family Discovery Day was an absolute blast!

On May 8, 2026, the families at Rosalie Hall came together for a very special Fire Truck Visit. πŸš’ A huge thank you to Toronto Fire Services () for allowing our toddlers and preschoolers to explore their fire truck and for teaching them about the important work that they do in keeping our community safe. It was truly an afternoon of fiery fun and family bonding! πŸ‘¨β€πŸš’πŸ‘©β€πŸš’

Motherhood is a journey that takes a village. Today, we celebrate the diverse paths to parenting and the many ways "mothering" shows up in our community. 🌸

To the biological and birthing parents, the foster and adoptive families, the grandmothers, the aunties, the mentors, and the caregivers who lead with a mothering heart – thank you. Whether you are a "Mom," a "Mama," or a nurturing caregiver, your warmth, guidance, and care shape our future.

Happy Mother’s Day from all of us at Rosalie Hall! πŸ’

Feeling a bit like a "storm" is happening inside? πŸŒͺ️ Deep breaths, we’ve got this.

We're closing out Children’s Mental Health Week with a tool for when big feelings get a little too loud: The 5-4-3-2-1 Grounding Method. It’s like a scavenger hunt for your senses that helps bring your mind back to the present moment. πŸ•΅οΈβ€β™‚οΈβœ¨

Try it …:
πŸ–οΈ 5 things you can SEE (a cloud, a toy, a chair)
πŸ–– 4 things you can TOUCH (your soft shirt, the grass, a cold water bottle)
🀟 3 things you can HEAR (a bird, the wind, a car passing by)
✌️ 2 things you can SMELL (fresh air, dinner cooking, a flower)
☝️ 1 thing you can TASTE (the minty toothpaste, a sip of water)
Save this for the next time things feel overwhelming. Small steps make a big difference! πŸ’›

Did you know that 70% of mental health challenges begin in childhood? 🧠

Today, as part of Children’s Mental Health Week, we recognize National Child and Youth Mental Health Day. Whether you're a young parent, educator, or mental health worker, your presence is a vital part of a young person’s wellness journey.

Don't forget to check us out on www.rosaliehall.com to see how our services can help support your and your children's mental health.

Mental health thrives on connection, and connections require a range of social skills. Mental health isn't built on emotional strength and resilience alone, but on fostering meaningful connections with others as well.

Books are great tools for teaching both emotional and social skills to children. They're also an amazing way to introduce and create conversations about mental health. Books can build big hearts and strong minds!
In 2025, School Mental Health Ontario asked school mental health professionals, early childhood educators, and parents to suggest books that can support the development of children's socio-emotional skills. Swipe left to see some of their recommendations and a few of our own!

Have you read these books to your kids? Do you have any book recommendations for fostering socio-emotional development in children? Share your thoughts in the comments below! We'd love to hear from you! πŸ“šβ€οΈ
