Last evening marked the kickoff of the 40th season of the Special Olympians program at the Port Colborne Bocce Club, a celebration of four decades of achievement, determination, friendship, and community spirit.

A heartfelt thank you to the Port Colborne Bocce Club, the dedicated volunteers, coaches, families, and sponsors whose ongoing support has made this remarkable milestone possible. Your commitment has helped create opportunities for athletes to grow, compete, and thrive.

Through sport, the Special Olympics program has long championed inclusion, respect, and opportunity, bringing people together and demonstrating the true power of belonging, friendship, and excellence.

Congratulations on reaching this incredible milestone, and best wishes for many more years of inspiring athletes, strengthening our community, and changing lives through sport.

The Great Lakes WISE Toolkit is a valuable resource complete with a slide deck and 19 brochures to help your organization strengthen water stewardship across the region, offering guidance and insight on various topic areas.

Development of the Toolkit was a collaborative effort with the Council of the Great Lakes Region, Fresh Coast Climate Solutions , The Water Council, and WISE Activation Partners, including Sloan Valve Company Primo Brands A.O. Smith Corporation, Diageo Veolia - North America Watts Water Technologies Ducks Unlimited.

A great example of what can be achieved through strong partnership and collaboration between all levels of government and the Thorold community. A true team effort.

Congratulations to everyone involved in bringing 5 Baker Street to reality and helping create more affordable housing for local families.

Today marked the grand opening of 5 Baker Street in Thorold, bringing 60 new affordable homes to the community. This project was made possible through $14.8 million in federal funding, alongside contributions from all levels of government.

When governments work together, we can make real progress in tackling the housing crisis. The City of Thorold showed leadership through its municipal development corporation, and today we’re seeing the results of that vision and collaboration.

A special thank you to former MP Vance Badawey for securing this critical funding in 2023 and helping turn this project from an announcement into reality.
