2025 Year In Review

Well it's hard to believe another successful year has passed. We were privileged to have over 60 members again this year. As usual we enjoyed our weekly cards at Stirling Legion on Wednesdays at 1:00.
Since starting a page and promoting our club on the Stirling page we have been glad to welcome new members that have moved into our area.
We have a special event every quarter in the year, whether it's lunch provided by the United Church, a Chinese dinner, chicken potluck or just our regular potluck it brings our members together as a community, not just for cards. Our group will be coming back together at the Legion on January 7th at 1:00 anyone from the community 50 and over is welcome to come out and see what we're all about. It's just $5 to play with a coffee \ tea or water and a treat provided at break time. We would also like to thank Exit Realty for providing us throughout the year
with lovely treats every week.
Until then we hope you had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and we'll see you Wednesday January 7th at 1:00 p.m.

Elaine McKeown Obituary
With heavy hearts and a deep gratitude for a life beautifully lived, the family of Carla Elaine (Elaine) McKeown announces her peaceful passing on December 6, 2025. Born on September 21st, 1941, in Campbellford, Ontario, Elaine was the beloved daughter of Don and Fern Rutherford, pre deceased by sister Muriel McGregor and brother Ronald Rutherford and devoted wife of John S. McKeown who passed in 2000.

Elaine was a loving mother to Rodney J. McKeown and cherished mother-in-law to Carol McGlogan. She took immense pride in her grandsons, Connor and Mitchell McKeown, whose lives she enriched with her quiet encouragement and steadfast love. She is also fondly remembered with affection by their mother, Janine.

Throughout her life, Elaine embodied kindness, generosity, and service. She spent many years employed at the Bank of Montreal in Stirling, Ontario, where she supported countless families with her warm smile, honesty, and genuine care. Her commitment to her community extended well beyond her work - Elaine was a committed volunteer at the Stirling Anglican Church, where she offered both nourishment and comfort to those in need, living her faith through humble service.

Elaine approached life with curiosity, creativity, and joy. She enjoyed travel and camping in her earlier years, and at home she always kept busy with reading, puzzles, knitting and crocheting. Her hands were rarely still. She created countless mittens, and baby blankets over the years that were donated to those in need...these gifts were a labour of love and embodied her generous spirit.

Her later years were brightened by the companionship of Earl Owen, with whom she shared many meals, conversations, and evenings cheering on their favourite teams. She also treasured her card group, where friendships and laughter were always abundant.

Elaine will be remembered as a selfless mother, grandmother, devoted friend, and a woman whose kindness touched everyone she met. She lived with quiet grace, always putting others first, and her gentle nature made her a pillar of comfort and strength to those around her. She will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love and compassion lives on in her family, her friends, and the community she served so faithfully.

A private family service will be held in the spring of 2026. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
