At our last speaker meeting on Wednesday evening we were treated to fun and insightful talk by Leslie McNamara from the Bruce County Playhouse on their upcoming productions this summer and on what it takes to run a small theatre company in Saugeen Shores.

We also had a short talk from Alex our outgoing Rotary Youth Exchange Student on his preparations for his upcoming exchange to Japan. He's being jointly sponsored by ourselves and the Port Elgin Club. Alex was presented with a Southampton Rotary Hat, a Tee shirt and various hosting gifts for him to take to Japan as part of this educational and cultural exchange. RYE is one of our favourite programs.
..and Tony was presented with a Paul Harris Plus 6 Recognition pin for his support to the Rotary Foundation.

Fun time at Pioneer Park with Michael the Piper.
A great crowd watched the first performance of the season at the new temporary location until the High Street improvements by the Flag are completed.
The performance was sponsored by our club….and we served Popcorn..!
Note: Some of the attendees said that Pioneer Park was a better venue. Interesting eh..!

Last Wednesday evening we formally dedicated the new Playground at GC Huston Public School

The playground opened last Fall. The Club lead the fundraising effort as part of the Club's 85th Anniversary Celebrations. The club pledged to raise $85,000, representing 1000 dollars for every year of service to the community.

The campaign went so well and with help from the SCC School Community Council - GC Huston, over $140,000 was raised to enable a state of the art playground which is now the envy of schools in the area.

A very big THANK YOU to all the donors and our supporters.

Discussions are in hand to provide a permanent recognition wall to recognize ALL who contributed to this exciting project.

It is regrettable that the perpetuator did not verify with the Chamber who are the organization behind this event before making the misleading post.
