Félicitations!
We are honored to officially announce, Inventor, Designer & Manufacturer - José Boisjoli from Valcourt, Quebec is an Inductee to the International Snowmobile Hall of Fame as part of the new Class of 2026.
José Boisjoli’s personal passion for snowmobiles arises from living in Wickham, Quebec, where he was just 10 years of age when he got his first Ski-Doo snowmobile. The town he grew up in as a child was only 30 minutes from what would become the BRP World Headquarters in Valcourt. Throughout his unrivaled career as President & CEO of Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP), José Boisjoli directed a worldwide and multi-faceted impact on every aspect of powersports. José has earned the well-deserved respect of his peers due to his countless accomplishments related to the snowmobile industry and reshaping recreational snowmobiling as it is today. Snowmobile Legend, J. Armand Bombardier founded the company and invented Ski-Doo snowmobiles. José built on that legacy by leading Ski-Doo to become the #1 selling snowmobile brand worldwide. This remarkable growth led Bombardier Inc. to the global leading powersports OEM, Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP) it is today. In January 2026, José Boisjoli retired after a total of 36 years, 14 years with Bombardier Inc. and then 22 years as the first President and Chief Executive Officer of BRP. BRP employs approximately 17,000 people worldwide, operates manufacturing facilities in Canada, the United States, Mexico, Finland (Lynx snowmobiles), Austria (Rotax engines), Australia and Germany earning revenue in 110 countries. It is estimated that one out of every three motorized recreational products sold worldwide carries the BRP logo. It started when José launched his BRP career with perhaps the most significant innovation in all of snowmobiling, the game changing, “rider-forward” concept adopted on the 2003 Ski-Doo REV platform. This major revolution, which changed the position of the rider in relation to the snowmobile, was soon to be used by every other OEM snowmobile manufacturer. This is just one of many prime examples of the major innovations BRP developed and patented on their Ski-Doo and Lynx snowmobile lines. They demonstrate José’s pivotal role in shaping recreational snowmobiling to the benefit of the entire snowmobiling community. BRP has received numerous awards under José’s leadership, but he personally has received recognition as the 2005 Executive of the Year (Powersports Magazine), 2014 Entrepreneur of the Year (EY), 2017 CEO of the Year (Les Affaires) and 2023 Global Visionary of the Year (The Globe and Mail). As the longest serving CEO among the powersports OEM’s and by continuing on the historic legacy of J. Armand Bombardier, José Boisjoli qualifies as an excellent choice for induction into the International Snowmobile Hall of Fame™, Class of 2026.
