Many downtown Dartmouth businesses are offering deals and specials during the East Coast Credit Union Ice Festival this weekend!

Are you passionate about how food is grown, shared, accessed in communities? Do you have an initiative focused on advancing local food sovereignty? Or maybe you're more focused on innovative new ideas that address food insecurity in Nova Scotia? No matter what your idea is, we want to hear from you!

Feed Nova Scotia has two grant programs this year:
1. The Community Food Sovereignty Grant, a new stream focused on advancing local food sovereignty initiatives, with a priority for Indigenous and African Nova Scotian-led or focused groups and other equity-deserving communities.
2. The Prototype Grant, which is focused on supporting community-led innovative ideas that address food insecurity across Nova Scotia.

At this year’s Commemoration Ceremony of the No. 2 Construction Battalion, dignitaries laid wreaths in solemn tribute to the brave Black soldiers who served with dignity and distinction between 1916 and 1920.

Among those who participated in the wreath-laying ceremony were:
• His Honour Mike Savage, Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia
• Hon. Sean Fraser, Minister of Justice
• Hon. Twila Grosse, Minister of African Nova Scotian Affairs
• Mayor Jim Ryan, Town of Pictou
• Councillor Hal Davidson, Town of Amherst
• Councillor Wayne Talbot, Town of Truro
• Brigadier General Mark Parsons, 5th Division Commander
• Rear Admiral Jaques Olivier, Director General CPCC
• Doyle Safire, Veterans Affairs Canada
• Assistant Commissioner Dennis Daley, RCMP H Division

Each wreath laid was a gesture of gratitude and a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by the men of No. 2 Construction Battalion — sacrifices that helped shape a more inclusive Canada.
