We are proud to share this exciting milestone for DicinFoam and Yinka Dene Economic Development Limited Partnership.

DicinFoam’s new Indigenous-led pilot plant in Vancouver is now producing biodegradable wood foam made from forestry waste. This innovative technology was developed through our partnership with UBC and offers a sustainable alternative to plastic foam packaging and insulation.

The next phase will bring production to Burns Lake, creating new employment, training and economic opportunities within Wet’suwet’en territory.

This is Indigenous-led innovation—adding value to our forest resources while protecting Mother Earth for future generations.

Yinka Dene Economic Development LP Shares Exciting News with the Community

Yinka Dene Economic Development LP is proud to share that we have received $1,660,500 in federal funding to support the Dicin Foam LP demonstration plant project in Burns Lake in partnership with Plantee Bioplastics.

The project will focus on turning low-value fibre and wood waste materials — including slash, bark, sawdust, shavings, and fire or insect-damaged fibre — into innovative biodegradable foam packaging and wood fibre insulation products.

This project represents more than funding. It creates opportunities for our community through:

🌲 Supporting Indigenous-led economic development
🌲 Creating future employment and training opportunities
🌲 Exploring new uses for forest resources
🌲 Supporting clean technology and innovation
🌲 Building long-term economic opportunities within Wet’suwet’en territory
