🎨🌿 We’re excited to welcome Kyla Lewis of Rosehound Pottery Studio to the Paddockwood Library for the first time! 🎨 🌿

Join us on Thursday, July 9th at 2:00 PM for a fun afternoon of creativity as children paint and decorate their own gypsum cement succulent planter to take home and enjoy.

Thanks to the incredible support we receive through our fundraising events, the library will be covering the cost of this class for participants, making this workshop free to attend.

⚠️ Registration is required and spaces are limited.
Children under 7 must be accompanied by an adult.

Back by popular demand! 🎨

Over the years we’ve painted bricks to look like old books as garden decor a couple times. We’ve had so many requests to do it again that we’re bringing it back—with a special twist.

The bricks we’ll be painting were originally cut by former Paddockwood artist Frank Sudol (1933–2006) for his famous fireplace. These unused bricks were donated to the library, and we’d love to give them a new life as art.

Join us June 25 from 1:00–5:30 pm and turn a piece of local history into something uniquely yours. Drop in anytime, stay as long as you’d like, and create a garden book, flower brick, wildlife scene, or whatever inspires you.

All ages welcome. We’d love to see what our community creates! 🌻📚🐞

✨ Kids, get ready to get crafty! ✨

We’re excited to welcome Jenine Yuzik of Dabble Diva Art back to Paddockwood next month for this fun and creative kids’ workshop!

Participants will transform terra cotta pots into whimsical miniature fairy and gnome houses, complete with plenty of colour, imagination, and personality. Jenine’s classes are always interactive, engaging, and full of creativity—we love having her at the library.

Thanks to the incredible support of our community and the success of our fundraising efforts, the cost of this workshop has been reduced to just $15 per child.

Space is limited and these classes tend to fill quickly, so be sure to register early!

The Paddockwood Library is planning an exciting lineup of summer programming, and we’re looking for new ideas, new faces, and new experiences to bring to our rural community.

Do you have a workshop, presentation, demonstration, performance, class, or hands-on activity you’d love to share?

We’re interested in programs for:

🎨 Families
🌿 Adults
☕ Seniors
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Multi-generational audiences

We’d love to hear from:

• Authors and storytellers
• Children’s entertainers
• Musicians and performers
• Bakers and cooks
• Artists and crafters
• Gardeners and horticulture enthusiasts
• Naturalists and outdoor educators
• Historians and local experts
• Wellness and fitness instructors
• Science and technology presenters
• Cultural educators
• Hobbyists, collectors, makers, and passionate people with something unique to share

Our library is located approximately 45 minutes north of Prince Albert and serves a broad rural area. Thanks to the incredible support of our community and successful fundraising efforts, we’re able to offer a variety of quality programs throughout the year.

We have access to a large, flexible programming space complete with tables and chairs (or open floor space), projector and screen, kitchen facilities, electricity, running water, and plenty of parking.

Over the years we’ve hosted everything from wild mushroom identification workshops, bonsai classes, Firesmart presentations, and author readings to puppet shows, sing-alongs, science demonstrations, baking classes, paint nights, origami workshops, infant massage sessions, and much more.

A few things to note:
• Programming takes place on Wednesdays and Thursdays between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
• Workshops and activities must be completed within a single day.
• Mileage, materials, and facilitator fees are negotiable.
• Coffee, tea, snacks, and enthusiastic participants are always available!

🌱 WOW. Just… WOW. 🌱

Our 11th Annual Paddockwood Library Plant Sale Fundraiser is officially in the books, and we are absolutely blown away.

Despite the postponements, the road detours, the spring runoff, the endless weather watching, and Mother Nature keeping us all guessing right until the bitter end… you showed up. And not just a few of you.

Approximately 275 amazing people came through our doors over the two days.
That kind of support for a small rural library is nothing short of extraordinary.

Because of this incredible community — our donors, volunteers, bakers, plant growers, shoppers, bidders, raffle ticket buyers, coffee drinkers, neighbours near and far — we raised an astounding $8,400.00.

Let that sink in for a moment.

That funding covers the purchase of our library hours for the entire year, our materials budget, and helps support programming in our little library.

That means books on the shelves. Programs for families, kids and seniors. Community connection. Learning. Creativity. A thriving rural gathering place.

This event has always been about far more than plants.

It’s about community.

It’s about people who believe small rural libraries matter.

It’s about folks who will brave washouts, scenic detours, muddy spring roads, and Saskatchewan’s wildly confused weather patterns because they care.

And speaking of community — please remember to support local whenever you can. The local businesses, local crafters, local artists, growers, makers, and creators are what make events like ours so incredibly special. Their generosity, talent, and community spirit are what take this fundraiser from wonderful to truly extraordinary.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone—near and far—who travelled to support our plant sale fundraiser. Thank you for your patience through the postponements, the flood conditions, and all the uncertainty leading up to the event. Your support means the world to our little library.

To everyone who came out, shopped plants, enjoyed treats, visited with friends, bought raffle tickets, bid in the silent auction, donated, volunteered, and helped spread the word—thank you. This event truly is a community effort in every sense of the word, and we are so grateful for the incredible support from our broad rural community and beyond.
