Earlier this week, CARA hosted the Agriculture Research and Extension Council of Alberta (ARECA) network of member associations for the annual Fall Training workshop! The group discussed the use of Ai, mental health, role-based deliverables and planning strategies, soil health, and tech tools that each association utilizes.

CARA's sister-organizations of applied research and forage association groups travelled from High River (Foothills Forage & Grazing Association ), Westlock (Gateway Research Organization ), Rocky Mountain House (Central Alberta Forage and Livestock Association), Sangudo (Farming Forward - WCFA), Forestburg (Battle River Research Group), Manning (North Peace Applied Research Association), and Fort Vermilion (Mackenzie Applied Research Association)!

Thank you to the The Clay Cup Co. for the abundance of delicious food! Everyone was well feed with baking, Cuban pork sliders and potato bacon soup, brisket, baked mac and cheese, and cheesecake cups 🤤 The amazing cheese board was presented by TurpialBase

With harvest wrapping up, take one less item off your to-do list by having CARA soil sample your fields for you!

Farm life can be incredibly rewarding, but it also comes with a lot of responsibility. The uncertainty, the long days, and demands can create pressures that are often difficult to see from the outside. That's why supporting mental health in agriculture matters.

Our farm dogs may not understand crop plans or harvest logistics, but they do understand something important: being there. Their constant companionship is a reminder that connection comes in many forms.

Through By Our Side: The 2027 SeCan Seed Dogs Calendar, we're celebrating the farm dogs who are part of daily life across Canadian agriculture while supporting an important cause.

For every eligible entry, SeCan will donate $50 to The Do More Agriculture Foundation, helping strengthen mental health awareness and support throughout our industry.
