πŸ“ Rideauview Community Centre, 4310 Shoreline Drive.

Have thoughts about truck traffic in Riverside South and the south end of Ottawa? Here's your chance to share them.

The City of Ottawa is hosting a drop-in Public Information Consultation as part of the South End Truck Network Study. There won't be a formal presentation, so feel free to stop by whenever it's convenient.

You'll be able to:
πŸ—ΊοΈ Review project information
πŸ“Š See the survey results
πŸ’¬ Chat directly with the project team
✍️ Share your feedback on truck traffic in Ottawa's south end

Whether you're concerned about noise, safety, traffic patterns, or just wondering where all those trucks are actually going, the City wants to hear from you.

Come by, take a look, and help shape the future of transportation in our growing community.

πŸ“£ Have you heard? Riverside South is getting a brand-new recreation complex... and you can help shape it!

The City of Ottawa is hosting a Public Information Session for the planned Southeast Recreation Complex and District Park, and everyone is invited to come see the preliminary designs, ask questions, and share their feedback.

πŸ“… Monday, June 15, 2026
πŸ•– 7:00–9:00 p.m.
πŸ“ St. Jerome School Gymnasium, 4330 Spratt Road

The new facility is planned for 1863 Earl Armstrong Road and is set to become a major recreation hub for southeast Ottawa.

What's being proposed?

πŸ’ Two NHL-size ice rinks
🏊 A 6-lane lap pool plus a leisure/therapy pool
πŸ’ͺ Fitness centre, gymnasium, and indoor walking track
🏐 Pickleball, tennis, basketball, and beach volleyball courts
πŸ‘Ά Playground and splash pad
⚽ Football/soccer field, with future soccer fields, softball diamonds, and cricket/Ultimate fields
🌳 Outdoor fitness equipment, shade areas, bike parking, and more

In other words... a place where you can swim, skate, work out, watch your kids play sports, and still somehow end up spending three hours there. πŸ˜„

This will be one of the biggest community projects in our area's future, so if you've ever said, "I wish they had built..."β€”this is your chance to weigh in before it's built.

We hope to see you there!

πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ Our huge Canada Day celebration doesn't happen without the help of our incredible volunteers!

This year, we need 226 community superstars to help make the magic happen β€” and we're especially looking for volunteers to help with the bouncy castles and games. (Turns out they don't supervise themselves. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ)

Students: Need volunteer hours? We've got you covered.
Parents: Some roles need adults, so consider making it a family affair!

As a thank you, volunteers receive free food and free Fun Passes for their kids or siblings.

Breaking news: Riverside South residents have not yet reached their annual quota for completing community surveys. πŸŽ‰

After the fantastic response to our Library & Community Centre poll, we have another quick question for you.

The Community Design Plan includes a Mixed-Use Pathway* alongside the Thomas Gamble Municipal Drain.

Yes, we know. "Municipal Drain" isn't exactly the catchiest conversation starter. But a future pathway that could connect parts of the community? That's worth talking about.

Whether you're a walker, runner, cyclist, stroller-pusher, dog-walker, or just someone who likes having more ways to get around Riverside South, we'd love your input.

πŸ“ Take the poll: https://bit.ly/MUPsurvey

It's quick, easy, and we promise there are no trick questions about drainage engineering. πŸ˜‰

*Check out the attached map; the proposed MUP is shown in dark green (circled in blue) and is part of the Community Design Plan, but has not yet been built.

We’ve seen a few questions about the work currently happening in the neighbourhood, so we wanted to share the information provided in Councillor Desroches’ May 15 newsletter.

The City is completing scheduled improvements to a drain that runs through Riverside South. The project is intended to help maintain and strengthen stormwater drainage capacity in the community.

Please refer to the attached graphic for details on the drain location and the areas that may be affected.

As part of the work, some vegetation needs to be removed to allow construction vehicles access to the ditch area. The drain itself is approximately 10 metres back from individual property lines, so disruption to residents is expected to be minimal, though construction vehicles may be travelling through the area during the project.
