Councillor Rawlson King moved the motion to formally acknowledge Youth Week alongside Youth Ottawa, and his colleagues backed it.

Ottawa has also never had a Youth Municipal Election until this year. Both of those happened in the same stretch, and neither was inevitable.

Thank you to Councillor King for moving it, and to the councillors who supported it. 💙

In 2022, Elinam's school had five weeks to produce a yearbook that hadn't been started. She and her co-editors got it done, and it shipped in time for people to sign each other's copies.

Since then: exchange ambassador, Sprott ambassador, President of the Sprott International Business Association, and EDI coordinator in residence at Carleton, running inclusive programming across nine months.

Her long-term goal is a scholarship fund, because the exchange changed her life and she wants to hand that to someone else.

She is one of 21 recipients at this year's 21 Under 21 Awards, our annual gala celebrating what young people in Ottawa have already built. November 10, Canadian Museum of History.

JC is running in Barrhaven East to be the person he needed.

Every young person should have one adult they can go to with a question and not feel stupid for asking. He wants to be that for his community.

He is one of 50+ young people running in Ottawa's first-ever Youth Municipal Election, competing across all 24 wards. The city has never had an official Youth Council before this.

These campaigns get real when people outside the room start paying attention.

Might was born in Togo and grew up across Montreal, Quebec City, Oakville, Ottawa, and Toronto. He almost didn't apply for this award because he assumed the odds were too low.

Always try because you never know what could be.

Kaarhunyaa's advice to anyone sitting on an idea: just do it.

She and her brothers have started things that failed, stalled, and no longer exist. She calls them stepping stones.

She has fundraised for her community here and back home in Sri Lanka, and represented more than 50,000 students as a school board trustee.
