Youth don’t have a place to build their community anymore. This is why we’ve created Untapped, a monthly youth networking event where you can connect with other people, develop communication and leadership skills.

Next one is the 27th of June at City Hall ✌️

You missed something special last Friday. 👀

Untapped brought together some of Ottawa’s most ambitious young people in one room. New connections were made. Stories were shared out loud. A performer took over the space. And at the roundtable, youth told the city exactly what they expect from it.

This month hit different.

Our youth sat down with 8 CEOs, packed the room at Untapped, and spent a full day with all in one month.

This is what happens when you put young people in the right rooms.

Every opportunity you say yes to opens a door you didn’t even know existed. 🔑

“Don’t wait.”

That’s one of the biggest lessons from Ming’s journey with Youth Active Media.

Too many young people think they need to wait until after graduation, until they have more experience, or until they feel completely ready before chasing their goals.

The truth? Confidence comes from doing.

Through YAM, Ming started building real-world skills, creating content, telling stories, and connecting with opportunities while still in school.

At Youth Ottawa, we believe young people shouldn’t have to wait years to start building their future. When youth are connected to people, opportunities, mentorship, and experiences, they move from learning… to creating… to leading.

The best time to start is now. 🚀

National Youth Week may be over, but the work is just beginning.

This week, we saw young people from every corner of Ottawa step forward with ideas, ambition, creativity, and leadership. We were reminded that youth are not just the future of our city—they are helping shape it right now.

At Youth Ottawa, we believe strong communities are built when young people are connected to people, opportunities, resources, and pathways that help them thrive.

A huge thank you to all of the partners, schools, businesses, community leaders, volunteers, and youth who helped make this year’s National Youth Week unforgettable. And special thanks to Mayor Mark Sutcliffe for championing youth voice and participation throughout our city.

Ottawa’s future is bright. Let’s keep building it together.

🔥 Something is happening in Ottawa.

More and more young people are getting off the sidelines and stepping into the conversations, relationships, and opportunities that will shape their futures.

Tonight at UNTAPPED, another room full of youth will come together to connect, contribute, and help define what they want from their city — and from their lives.

🎤 Antoine breaks it down perfectly.

The future isn’t something that happens to you.
It’s something you help build.

What a way to close out Ottawa Youth Week 🔥

Today, Justin and Kairi stepped inside the world of leadership, entrepreneurship, development, hospitality, and real-time decision-making during an unforgettable CEO 4 A Day experience with TMSI founder Darin McCorriston.

From touring the domes and sitting in real executive meetings, to travelling to eQuinelle Golf Club in Kemptville, meeting the people who keep the operation moving every day, and hearing honest leadership lessons along the way — today was packed with perspective-changing moments.

But beyond the business insights, Darin shared something even more important: mindset.

“Luck becomes more regular the harder you work.”
“Good paper makes good friends.”
“Some people watch things happen. Others make things happen.”

Real mentorship. Real conversations. Real exposure to the complexity of building something meaningful.

Huge thank you to Darin and the entire TMSI team for opening your doors and investing in the next generation of leaders 🙌

Yesterday’s Mayor 4 A Day experience was something special 🏛️❤️

Polina and Derek didn’t just tour City Hall — they brought real ideas, lived experiences, and bold visions for the future of Ottawa directly into conversations with city leaders.

From youth fitness infrastructure and healthier communities to building stronger civic connections between schools, cadets, student leadership groups, and community organizations, both students proved that young people are thinking deeply about the future of their city.

They met mayors, ambassadors, councillors, city-builders, and community leaders throughout the day — but the biggest takeaway may have been this:

Youth don’t need to wait until adulthood to contribute meaningfully to their city.

They’re ready now. 🙌

Ottawa becomes stronger when young people are invited into the room
