A New Horizon on the voyage to Ending Elder Homelessness in Canada

It is said that when smooth seas don't favor you, you build a bigger ship.

I am adjusting my departure date for the solo expedition to May 2027. This decision was not made lightly. An expedition of this magnitude requires robust financial backing, and quite frankly, securing the necessary Canadian corporate sponsorships in the current economic climate has proven to be an uphill battle.

However, a delay does not mean defeat. Instead of scaling back our ambitions to match a tough funding environment, we are scaling up.

We are using this extra time to completely re-imagine the scope of this mission to drive even greater awareness and support for elder homelessness across Canada.
The Evolution of the Expedition

We have completely redesigned the journey, transforming it from a regional trek into a historic, cross-country voyage:

The Old Route: A 3-month solo expedition focused solely on Labrador.

The New Route: A massive, full transit through the iconic Northwest Passage—navigating all the way from Montreal to Vancouver.

The Expanded Goal: Because the route and the stakes are now so much higher, we are supercharging our fundraising target. We are moving past our original $250,000 goal and are now aiming to raise $1,000,000 to combat elder homelessness.

Turning a Setback into Global Impact

While it is difficult to press pause for the next several months when the elder homelessness crisis demands immediate action, this extra runway is a gift. It gives us the precise window we need to secure global partners, build ironclad logistics for the Northwest Passage, and rally a community that refuses to let economic barriers stand in the way of human dignity.

The destination remains exactly the same, but the journey is now grander, bolder, and capable of making a much larger dent in this crisis.

Thank you for your unwavering belief in this cause. If you or an organization you know want to help us cross the Northwest Passage and hit that $1M milestone, please reach out. Let’s turn this delay into history.

Love to all of you,

A Difficult Detour on the Road to Ending ELDER Homelessness in Canada

It is with a heavy heart that I must postpone my departure date for my four months solo expedition from July 1 to August 1, 2026. This journey is a mission to raise vital funds and awareness to help end elder homelessness across Canada, making this delay incredibly difficult to share.
An expedition of this scale requires substantial resources, and I simply cannot finance it alone. Unfortunately, Canada's current economic climate is heavily strained. Shifting market pressures and tight corporate budgets mean sponsorships have contracted significantly, leaving our funding landscape exceptionally tight. It is painful to press pause when the elder homelessness crisis is so urgent, and I feel deep sadness that our momentum has been slowed by economic barriers.
However, this setback is not a defeat. I am choosing to look at this 30-day window through a lens of hope. It gives us a crucial opportunity to connect with partners who refuse to let a tough economy stand in the way of human dignity.
I must also be realistic about our narrow seasonal window. If the necessary funding does not come together for this August, this mission will not be abandoned. I will continue to advocate and fundraise tirelessly throughout the winter, departing at the absolute earliest weather-permitting timeframe in 2027.
Thank you for your ongoing belief in this cause. We are hitting a detour, but the destination remains the same. If you or an organization you know can partner with us, please reach out. Let’s turn this delay into impact. Love to all of you❤️🤘⛵️

ELDER HOMELESSNESS IN CANADA
ELDER ABUSE IN CANADA

OUR SHAME IS SHOWING. 🇨🇦🚫

We call ourselves a "compassionate" nation, yet we let the very elders who built our cities and raised our families live on sidewalks, in tents, in shelters and in homeless encampments. Elder homelessness in Canada isn't just an "issue"—it is a festering national tragedy that most people are too uncomfortable or unwilling to look at.

I’m done looking away. As an elder myself, I’m sailing solo into the harsh conditions of Northern Labrador to prove a point: If I can do this extreme solo journey and endure the challenges of this extreme expedition, we sure can find a way to put a roof over our elders' heads.

This is the elder zeitgeist expedition 2026. I am hunting for $250,000 to help end this Canadian disgrace.
