Celtic Ensemble

Celtic Ensemble We are a non-profit society dedicated to improving quality of life for all by connecting youth with their community through music. Knutson.

Founded in 1999 by Claude Giguère and Jay Knutson, the North Shore Celtic Ensemble is a whole new kind of music experience. What began as celtic is now a spirited no-boundaries repertoire that reflects a wide range of musical influences - celtic, jazz, classical, folk, and more - creating an exciting genre-spanning experience for the players and the audience. Far more than just a performing group,

the North Shore Celtic Ensemble is committed to inspiring youth to use music to engage and connect with communities, to live well, and to make a difference. If you are interested in supporting the NSCE, contact us at [email protected] or visit www.nsce.ca/how-to-support-us

Join us!! Are you interested in exploring a different avenue with your music
and getting together with other young musicians? If you have been learning to play the violin for at least one year and you would like to complement your ongoing private lessons; and if you are between the ages of 8 and 18, you are welcome to join us for an hour each week in the NSCE Intro group or the NSCE Strings and Things! You will be challenged to learn new tunes by ear while covering elements of harmony, theory and rhythm. You will focus on a repertoire that integrates these skills in a dynamic ensemble-playing environment while enjoying the camaraderie of playing music in a fun and inclusive social setting. Once at the Strings and Things level you will participate in performances offered to the North Shore community several times throughout the year.
