Leadership, service, and partnership in action.

Our cadets supported the North Bay Yacht Clubโ€™s opening race night, demonstrating initiative, teamwork, and pride in service.

Weโ€™re also proud of the continued development of our partnership with the Yacht Clubโ€”creating valuable experiences that build skills and strengthen community ties.

Take a look at these great moments captured on the waterfront. โ›ต๐Ÿ“ธ

Brilliant Awards & Promotions! โš“๏ธ๐Ÿ“

Wednesday, May 6th was quite special at RCSCC Brilliant, with new Senior Cadet appointments and promotions being presented. Petty Officer First Class Jasmine Lane was promoted to Chief Petty Officer Second Class, and has now been appointed the Chief of Administration at our corps. The selection process for this is tough, with cadets having to sit an interview and file review to achieve this appointment. Ordinary Cadet Kirby, who has been acting as our corps Quartermaster and Boatswain's Mate was also promoted to Able Cadet.

But wait, that's not all! Petty Officer Second Class (PO2) Wyatt Frederick was officially appointed our Deputy Coxswain, in charge of the dress, drill, and deportment of the corps. PO2 Frederick was also presented with his Expert Marksman certificate and badge.

Bravo Zulu everyone!

81st Anniversary of the Battle of the Atlantic โš“๏ธ

Cadets from RCSCC Brilliant held a commemorative ceremony on May 3rd, 2026, at the Callander Royal Canadian Legion Branch 445, which marked the 81st Anniversary of the end of the Battle of the Atlantic. The Battle of the Atlantic was the longest fought battle in the Second World War, which was fought at sea for 2,075 days from 1939 to 1945. More than 2,024 naval personnel and 1,778 Merchant Marine personnel were lost in active service during the battle.

They will not be forgotten.

Farewell, Coxswain! โš“๏ธ๐ŸŒŠ

At the end of March, we had to say farewell to our Coxswain, Chief Petty Officer First Class (CPO1) Ellethya Colyer, prior to her 19th Birthday. CPO1 Colyer's steadfast leadership throughout the past year has not gone unnoticed, and we would like to congratulate her on an outstanding cadet career. On CPO1 Colyer's last night in uniform, we also held a Change of Appointment ceremony which saw the ceremonial transfer of RCSCC Brilliant's Gunners Chain & Boatswain's Call, a symbol of their appointment as Coxswain, being passed from CPO1 Colyer to Petty Officer Second Class (PO2) MJ Lazary.

Bravo Zulu on your appointment as Coxswain, PO2 Lazary, and fair winds and following seas to our now former CPO1 Ellethya Colyer!

Have you ever wanted to help develop youth within your local community? Now is your chance!

The North Bay Branch of the Navy League of Canada is an active supporter of Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps (RCSCC) Brilliant and Navy League Cadet Corps (NLCC) North Bay, working alongside the Department of National Defence and the Canadian Armed Forces to help deliver training to both naval-themed cadet corps in North Bay.

The branch is looking for more members to help grow the association and ensure the continued support of RCSCC Brilliant and NLCC North Bay.

Meetings are held regularly, and there is a reasonable expectation of attendance. For more information on how to apply, please contact Pat Proulx via email at [email protected] or send us a message if you have any questions.

"We're RCSCC Brilliant and we know first aid, can we help you?" โ›‘๏ธ๐Ÿฉน

During the last week of January, cadets at RCSCC Brilliant were able to participate in a Standard First Aid & CPR-C course instructed by Lieutenant ( N ) Andrew Oman, our Executive Officer, who is also a registered nurse and a First Aid instructor with the Canadian Red Cross. This certification provides cadets with lifesaving knowledge, qualifying them to provide First Aid and CPR to persons in distress in the cadet program and to members of the public in accordance with the applicable provincial legislation.
