Recently, we welcomed the next generation to the firehall for Take Your Kid to Work Day. Firefighting often runs in the family, with traditions, values, and a passion for serving the community passed from one generation to the next. It was a pleasure to share a day in the life of the fire service with our future firefighters. 🚒

🚨 Mutual Aid Trench Rescue 🚒
Earlier today, Platoon 2 responded to a reported Trench Rescue in the City of Welland.
Niagara Falls Squad 1 attended the scene with the Technical Trench Rescue Trailer and began coordinating with Welland Fire and Emergency Services and to effect a rescue.
Together, first responders were able to safely and quickly extricate the patient from the trench where they received further medical care.
The Niagara Falls Professional Firefighters would like to thank everyone that made this rescue possible.
Incidents such as these highlight the value of specialized rescue capabilities and the strong partnerships between emergency services across Niagara.
Working together, we continue to provide the highest level of service and care to the residents of our communities.

Exam day for Platoon 4.
Our crews have been training all summer for the new NFPA Rope Rescue Technician certification from Office of the Fire Marshal.
Seen here, a rescuer is conducting a Solo Pick-off, simulating an at-height rescue of a stranded worker.
On the ground are several stations, where memebers build and operate anchoring, lowering and haul systems.
It's been a long summer on the tower, and the hard work is paying off.
Great work everyone.
