The deaths of 32 Cuban intelligence agents guarding Maduro expose a colonized security state—one replicated in Venezuela and Nicaragua.
As I wrote in The Bureau: repressive regimes do not stand alone—they sustain one another.

As long as the Venezuelan regime remains in power, Cuban intelligence advisers will remain embedded across multiple structures—evidence of a Communist security architecture across Latin America: Op-Ed

Please sign the petition for the Draft Law on Amnesty and the Decriminalization of Dissent in Cuba.
Cuba’s political prisoners need your voice. Amnesty ends unjust sentences, erases fabricated charges, and ensures no Cuban is ever jailed again for speaking, thinking, or peacefully defending their rights.
Pro-democracy movements in Poland, Russia, the Czech Republic, Hungary fought for amnesty too.
Cuba deserves the same.

Remembering the Canadian heroes who fought to preserve our freedom and democracy. 🇨🇦
Remembrance Day honours the men and women who served and died in military service for Canada — particularly those who fought in World War I, World War II, the Korean War, and in UN peacekeeping missions around the world.
After World War II, Canada emerged as a global leader in peacekeeping, sending soldiers and civilians to uphold peace and security under the United Nations.
Their courage reminds us that peace is built through sacrifice, service, and solidarity. 🕊️

Well deserved! At Democratic Spaces, we are honoured to see the Truman-Reagan Medal of Freedom awarded in person to José Daniel Ferrer, who has risked his life during 30 years of peaceful struggle for Cuba’s freedom, endured nearly 13 years of arbitrary imprisonment in retaliation for his commitment to democracy, and suffered some of the worst physical and psychological torture under the Cuban communist regime.
Grateful for Lithuania’s solidarity with the Cuban people in their ongoing fight for democracy, freedom, and human rights. 🇨🇺🤝🇱🇹

From Democratic Spaces in Canada, we applaud today’s meeting in Washington, D.C. between U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and José Daniel Ferrer, four-time prisoner of conscience and pro-democracy leader from Cuba.
This meeting reaffirms the United States’ commitment to:
Cuba’s democratic future
Freedom for all political prisoners
Direct aid to Hurricane Melissa survivors—not through the regime, but directly to the people in need
Courage like Ferrer’s fuels the fight for freedom in Cuba.

The Cuban regime fears him more than any weapon — because his art exposes truth.
Luis Manuel Otero Alcántara transforms pain into beauty, and beauty into defiance.
His story reveals how art can shake a dictatorship more powerfully than fear.
