We'd Love Your Feedback!

As many of you know, we're working hard to get the South Wellington Community Centre ready to open its doors again.

One of the things we're most excited about is creating a Community Connection Room — a welcoming space where people of all ages can come together, spend time with neighbours, and build community.

Our vision is to have a space with things like:

📚 A community library for adults and children
☕ Coffee, tea, and light snacks
🎲 Board games and card games
🧸 Toys and activities for children
🛋️ A comfortable lounge area to relax and visit

We're also hoping to secure grant funding that would allow us to add things like a computer, video game console, DVD player, additional furniture, and other resources for the community to enjoy.

The goal is simple: to create a place where people can gather, connect, and feel a sense of belonging.

As we plan for opening, we'd love to know:

What days and times would you be most likely to use the Community Connection Room?

Would weekday mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, or a combination work best for you?

Please leave a comment below and let us know. Your feedback will help us create a space and schedule that truly works for our community.

Thank you for being part of this journey. ❤️

MEETING REMINDER

Hello SWACA Members,

This is a reminder that our regular scheduled SWACA meeting will take place tonight, at 7:00 PM at the Cranberry Fire Hall.

Updates + Requests

Rentals

We are all really looking forward to welcoming the community into the center and opening it up for rental once the building receives occupancy. If you or someone you know is interested in renting space at the Community Centre for programs, services, events, or even if you have ideas for the space, please contact me directly at [email protected].

We are currently anticipating an opening date between July 1st and July 15th, with the final date dependent on the progress of the Operational Agreement with the RDN and when the building receives occupancy.

Seeking Community Donations

As we prepare the space, we are looking for gently used items such as:

Furniture (couches, tables, lamps, office furniture, etc)

Décor

Office equipment (printer)

TVs

Video game consoles

DVD player + DVD’s

Books (all genres)

Board games

Puzzles

If you have something you believe could benefit the Community Centre, please email me directly at [email protected].

Community Market Initiative

We’ve heard strong interest from community members about launching a Community Market — outdoors in the spring/summer and indoors in the fall/winter.

If this is something you feel passionate about and would like to help lead, please reach out. We will be forming a subcommittee if there is enough interest to move this initiative forward.

Seeking Volunteers

We are continuously looking for people to come and get involved with our society. If you have a passion for community connection and want to see our new community center thrive, please consider coming out and getting involved. Not all volunteer positions require to to attend in person either!

There are several ways you can get involved, including:

Community Centre Bookings – assisting with rental inquiries and scheduling

Bookkeeping Support – helping track income & expenses in our Quickbooks Online software

Event Planning – helping organize community events, markets, and activities

General Administration – supporting day-to-day tasks as the center gets established

Volunteering time during our open house hours in the Community Connection Room

Photography

So much more!

Whether you can help occasionally or on a more regular basis, every contribution makes a difference in creating a vibrant community space.

If you’re interested in volunteering, please reach out to us at [email protected]

With appreciation,
Rebeca Easthom
