On June 30, Prince Edward Island will bring the new Employment Standards Act into force, which modernizes and strengthens the rights and obligations of employees and employers.

Some of the key changes under the new Act include:

- Introducing up to 27 weeks of job-protected, unpaid medical leave
- Increasing unpaid sick leave from three to four days per year
- Limiting employer requests for sick notes to absences of five or more consecutive days and expanding the range of qualified health professionals who can provide them
- Reducing the maximum work week from 48 hours to 44 hours
- Updated termination provisions and enforcement mechanisms
- Requiring employers to provide work schedules at least one week in advance, except in extenuating circumstances
- Extending sick leave provisions to unionized employees

Congratulations to WellSpring Environmental on celebrating their 1st year anniversary in business!!

So grateful to celebrate the 1st year anniversary of WellSpring Environmental!

This first year stretched me in every possible way, it has been a year of learning, building, testing water, hauling coolers, explaining lab results, trying new things, making mistakes, getting back up and slowly turning an idea into a real business.

When I started, I wanted to bridge the gap between industry water testing and providing information homeowners and businesses actually need.
One year in, I’m even more certain this work truly matters and there is so much more to do.

Thank you to every client, mentor, business owner, collaborator, friend, family and supporter who has trusted me, shared my name, booked a test, asked a question, or encouraged me when I needed it most!
