Confirmed Coaching Positions 2026-27

In response to numerous families' requests this summer for SEAVC to offer Fall Tryouts for U6 & U17 Girls, and with a number of open coaching positions to fill, SEAVC made a concerted effort in a relatively short amount of time to identify and assign qualified Head Coaches to specific girls and boys teams (at the older age classes) as soon as possible to permit Fall Tryouts, while capitalizing on our coaches' individual strengths and preferences.

After playing a bit of 'Coaching Tetris' to adjust the coaching pieces to fit and to meet the high demand for head coaches for both girls' and boys' teams, SEAVC has finalized the following Head Coaches:

Girls U18 Rattlers Gold - Lori Kube
Girls U18 Rattlers Black - Emilie Soper
Boys U18 Rattlers Gold - Dryden Gris

Girls U17 Rattlers Gold - Mark Porter
*ACE Girls U17s* - Kim Hall

*SEAVC will only explore creating a Girls U17 Black team at Winter Tryouts, IF BOTH U17 teams (SEAVC & ACE) fill their rosters, and IF there are still enough players committed to forming a 3rd team.

We hope to be able to determine and announce Head Coaching positions for as many of the remaining potential teams as possible within the next 2-3 weeks. That could include additional teams at any age class for girls or boys IF there are enough committed athletes and IF we can staff with qualified* coaches prior to Tryouts.

SEAVC is currently still accepting Coaching Applications (click link below), but will be closing applications for Head Coaches in the next couple of weeks so that we can make final coaching decisions for teams.

*Coaches MUST have their Person in Authority (PIA) requirements completed and approved by Volleyball Alberta BEFORE being permitted to coach with SEAVC.

The U12-U15 age groups tryouts will occur during the Winter Tryout Session Nov 29-Dec 5, official Dates and Times TBD.

We are currently working through coaching applications and references in hopes of naming the coaches for these levels in the next couple weeks.

Please remember to register your daughter with Volleyball Alberta as a “2027 Youth Development Player- Tryout” as athletes need to show a screenshot to verify membership at check-in

U16 & U17 Girls Tryout information: (Updated August 29, 2026)

Tryouts will be held on the following dates and times:

U16 Girls (athletes born September 1, 2010- December 31, 2011)

Sunday August 30th 6-8pm
Sunday Sept 6th 11am-1pm
Sunday Sept 13th 11am-1pm

U17 Girls (athletes born September 1, 2009 - December 31, 2010)

Sunday August 30th 11am-1pm
Monday September 7th 6-8pm

All tryouts will take place at CHHS, please enter through the East doors. There will be a $5 fee to help cover court costs, this is one time payable per age group you’re trying out for.

U17 Rattlers Women Coaching Update (Aug 24):

In a collaborative effort, Medicine Hat ACE & SEAVC are each planning to operate 1 Girls U17 Team, for a total of 2 teams in Medicine Hat.

*IF there are more than enough players to commit to filling three (3) U17 team rosters in Medicine Hat, then SEAVC could create a SEAVC Rattlers Black team (2nd SEAVC team to offer 3 teams in the city). We will have better idea once athletes sign up for tryouts.

We are still finalizing fall tryout dates. Once confirmed we will post the Link to sign up for U17 Tryouts as well as the dates, times & gym locations.

The coaches for this season will be:

Rattlers Gold
Dryden Gris

ACE 17s
Kim Hall

*Rattlers Black
TBD - Depending on # of athletes IF enough to have 3 full teams in the city)

*We tentatively have a qualified Head Coach in place for a U17 Black team if there are enough players to form 3 full teams (Gold, ACE & Black).

We are planning to have 3 Teams at this age group for the upcoming season. Coaches will be as follows:

1) Rattlers Black (Top Tiered team in this age group)

2) Rattlers White (2nd Tiered team)
Troy Butterwick

3) Rattlers (3rd Tiered team) - Tentative

The plan is to have Fall tryouts for this age group and we are working on finalizing the details to do so, once we have them locked in we will let everyone know.
