MH Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals - we care for sick, injured & unwanted animals.

The mission of the Medicine Hat Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is to provide protective care for sick, injured, homeless and unwanted animals and to promote humane attitudes and responsible pet ownership. To accomplish this, there must be acceptance that humans are responsible for the welfare of animals; and there must be an understanding of the physical and behavioral needs of animals. We have many community programs including our Spay Neuter Assistance Program (SNAP), Emergency boarding Services, Adoption services, Volunteer Program, Foster Program, Pet Safe Keeping and more. We also have a Pet Gear Store with many new and gently used pet items at discounted prices!!

Meet Dune – brains, beauty, and a whole lot of potential!

This smart, sweet German Shepherd puppy is ready to find someone who can help her grow into the incredible dog we know she can be. She’s eager to please, has lots to learn, and needs a home that can keep up with her training and puppy adventures.

Dune does have a diagnosis of mild bilateral hip dysplasia, which means her future family will need to be mindful of her joint health and prepared for the possibility of additional veterinary care as she grows.

We know she’s adorable, but finding the right home for Dune means looking beyond those puppy eyes!

Interested in this clever girl? Proceed to her full bio to learn more about her training needs, hip dysplasia, and what it takes to be the right match for Dune.

🐾Success Story Sunday - We love hearing from our adopters. If you would like to be featured, please send us a message! 💕

Hello!

I wanted to share our success story about one of your former residents, this is Bear!

We adopted Bear in January 2021, shortly after he turned 2 years old. This December he’ll be 7, and we truly can’t imagine our lives without him.

When we first brought him home, he was a very shy and quiet boy. Over the years, he’s completely come out of his shell and has become the biggest personality in our house! These days he’s known for “yelling” at us when he wants treats or to go outside, playing with his little sister Remy (our Australian Shepherd), and snuggling up with me and our daughter, Aspen, who was born this past April. Watching him become so gentle and loving with her has been incredibly special.

Bear’s absolute favorite things are playing fetch, splashing in his own kiddie pool with the hose running, and spending time with his family. He’s brought so much laughter, love, and happiness into our home, and adopting him was one of the best decisions we’ve ever made.

As he enjoys his golden years, we’re so grateful we were able to give him the loving home he deserves. Thank you for bringing him into our lives, we couldn’t imagine our family without him. ❤️

Meet Neo – your future best friend and full-time shadow!

This handsome boy has come so far since arriving at the shelter and has really worked his way into our hearts. Once Neo gets to know you, he’s a loving, loyal guy who wants to be wherever his favourite person is. Personal space? He’s not entirely sure what that is!

Neo has made plenty of dog friends here at the shelter, and we’re still learning more about him every day. He’s also working on his potty training, so he’ll need someone patient and willing to help him continue learning.

Think Neo might be your new sidekick? Proceed to his full bio to learn more about this sweet boy and what he’s looking for in a home!

🍊🐹 Isaac is sad that Grapefruit hasn’t been adopted yet! ☹️

This little man is our longest-resident rodent.

GRAPEFRUIT. MY GUY. WHAT ARE WE DOING HERE?! 😭

Is it the name? Too fruity? Not fruity enough? Should we have gone with Steve? 😂

All jokes aside, this sweet guinea pig has been waiting for his forever family, and we’d really love to see him finally get his happy ending.

Someone out there needs a Grapefruit in their life. We just know it. 🍊❤️
