On behalf of the EUS executive team we would like to introduce Leilani Leighton as the newly elected Treasurer for the 2021/2022 school year.

Get to know Leilani:

My name is Leilani Leighton and I am a first year student in the Education program. I chose to attend MHC because I have lived her my entire life so I thought it was a perfect fit! I love working with kids and I have spent my time working in summer camps and have participated in scholarships that involve teaching a subject of my choice. This summer I will be teaching art classes at The Esplanade summer camps. I am so excited to begin working with the EUS team and to take on the Treasurer position!

On behalf of the EUS executive team we would like to introduce Madison Janzen as the newly elected Secretary for the 2021/2022 school year.

Get to know Madison:

Hi everyone, my name is Madison Janzen and I am excited to be the new Eus Secretary! I am currently in my first year of the education program here at Medicine Hat College. My dream grades for my teaching career are to teach younger elementary students of grades 1 to 3. I have enjoyed being involved in the Education Undergraduate Society meetings during the past two semesters and I am excited to continue my involvement. During the winter 2021 semester, I was a part of the Professional Development planning committee and I enjoyed planning sessions for fellow students. Being a part of the Education Undergraduate Society executives excites me because I enjoy being involved in planning events, participating in meetings, and being there for other students. I look forward to being the EUS secretary for 2021-2022.

Hello! My name is Rene Wellsch, and I will be going into my second year of education! I am a very bubbly and open minded person. I love to make others around me feel safe and happy! On behalf of the EUS executive team we would like to welcome Charlee Ukalchuk our newly elected President for the 2021/2022 school year!

Get to know Charlee:

Hi everyone! My name is Charlee Ukalchuk, and I will be the new president of the EUS. I am super excited to get involved, and I look forward to having a fun and engaging year!

I am 20 years old, and decided to go into education after spending 2 years in general studies! I have a passion for young children, but I most passionate about inclusion. I have been a respite worker for a young girl with Rett Syndrome for three years now, and have worked alongside children with a variety of different disabilities throughout this time as well. My goal as a future teacher is to promote inclusion in the classroom!

My goal as president of the EUS is to incorporate multiple ( hopefully in person ) activities that get us Ed students together, involved with one another, and have some fun!

Thank you, and I look forward to getting to know you!

The EUS is going to be running a bottle drive fundraiser until February 23, 2021, in support of Medicine Hat’s Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. We were approached by Mike Flieger, Principal at Elm Street School, about his plans to start up a Medicine Hat Affiliate. He was wondering if the Education students could get involved in some way. The main goal for this program is to gain some community support through fundraising in order to serve as many kids as possible. This is where the EUS thought a good way to fundraise would be to do a bottle drive.
