Bruce Grey Mentorship was developed as a response to the closing of a local BBBS program that left many children and youth in our community without the benefits and support positive mentors bring to their lives. As a local non-profit charity, Bruce Grey Mentorship provides mentoring support for children and youth in need of additional support and encouragement to reach their potential. We serve y

oung people from families where 1 or both key parent is absent, or where there is a demonstrated need, BGM provides a network of positive adults to build into their lives; role modeling social skills, respect, problem solving and positive communication skills. We are committed to children and youth in our community by promoting confidence and self-esteem through mentoring and focused attention. And we create a safe environment for our Mentees to grow and reach their potential. Raising positive contributing members of a community takes a village effort. We are here as a community resource and to support and nurture the next generation..

We are excited to announce that we have received our first Canada Summer Job grant. We have hired a student who will support our program during the months of July and August.

My name is Gracie, and I’m from a small town in Newfoundland. Over the past year, I have completed a Pre-Health Sciences certificate to prepare for Respiratory Therapy this fall. Before that, I completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Computational Mathematics, during which I was also a Teaching Assistant. I also volunteered in my community by helping with youth activities. I have always enjoyed helping people, and I am very excited for this role with Bruce Grey Mentorship. When I’m not busy with school, I enjoy being active by walking or playing sports. I also enjoy travelling and spending time with my friends. It is an honour to be part of Bruce Grey Mentorship this summer, and I am looking forward to all the fun ahead!

We are excited to announce a grant from Bruce Power to include Skill Exploration into our Adventure Club this year. After a visit last summer to the Bruce Power Visitor's Centre, we had many young people interested in what types of job skills are needed to work there.

This grant will allow us to organize some trips to Grey Bruce Makers INC in Owen Sound to explore various skills and work on projects. As well, our Cooking Club is returning in collaboration with the Elephant Thoughts new Hanover location. This grant will also involve visiting various industries around our area to see job skills in action. Our goal is to inspire our young people with many job opportunities they could pursue within our own community.

The program will be coordinated by our very own Christina! We are happy to have her take on this additional role.

Thank you Hanover for your generous donation of $3000 to our program. Thank you West Grey for your donation of $250 and thank you Brockton for your donation of $150. we truly appreciate your support of local mentoring for the young people in our communities.
