This spring, Gr. 5/6 students from Delia School & Morrin School participated in a 5 lesson program called 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗱𝗼𝘄𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝘆, a school-based to***co prevention program. Throughout the program, students learned factual information, identified the harmful effects of to***co use, learned to recognize unhealthy social situations, and practiced ways to resist peer pressure to use to***co products.

During the final lesson, students had an opportunity to play a cooperative card game with their peers as a way to develop valuable skills to resist negative to***co industry influences.

This program was co-delivered by Trina Macfarlane & Martin McSween, Addiction Counsellors & Certified To***co Educators from Recovery Alberta - Mental Health & Addiction.

At the end of May, we hosted our last Al Amal Online Academy in-person event of the school year. The students were so talented with their dot painting creations (even though they told us, the snacks were the reason for attending). 🤣

Al-AMAL ACADEMY and GREEN DOME ISLAMIC SCHOOL

We are currently seeking a friendly, energetic, and compassionate Youth Wellness Worker to join our team. The successful candidate will work collaboratively as part of a supportive team to develop and deliver developmentally appropriate, evidence-based programming that aligns with the objectives of the Mental Health Capacity Building in Schools Initiative. The Consort Grade 12 students were pleasantly surprised to receive personal notes and gifts from the Grade 2 class this week, wishing them well as they graduate and move on from Consort School. It was hard to tell who was more excited - the givers or the receivers! 😁
