Ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes before the lights go up and the curtain rises? As part of our 65th anniversary celebrations, we’re giving you a little peek behind the scenes! Today we are sharing with you some of the preliminary sketches used to come up with the set layout or design. First, there is a page with the staging notes and layout concept for “Departures & Arrivals” (performed May 2008), rotating panel concepts for “A Christmas Carol” (performed November 2018) and preliminary set layout for “The Savannah Sipping Society” (performed November 2024).
While the audience sees the finished performance, there’s a lot of creativity, planning, and teamwork that happens long before opening night. Our directors are often involved in developing the set design concept, working alongside our support team to bring their vision to life.
From painting backdrops and creating scenes on stage panels to sourcing, borrowing, or building furniture and large props, every detail helps transform the stage and bring the story to life.
Behind it all are our wonderful props team and our many artistically talented members, whose creativity, skills, and dedication help make each production possible. Without their contributions, the show simply couldn’t go on!
❤️ A huge thank-you to all the members who have generously shared their time, talents, and enthusiasm over the years. You are an essential part of our theatre family, and we wouldn’t be here celebrating 65 amazing years without you!
Here’s to the creativity, collaboration, and community that keep our theatre thriving! 🎭✨
