To help prevent human-caused wildfires and ensure public safety during the upcoming hot, dry weather, open burning activities are now prohibited throughout the Coastal Fire Centre.

These restrictions remain in effect until October 31, 2026, or until officially rescinded.

As a reminder, campfires are banned year-round in the City of Delta under local bylaws. Let’s work together to keep Delta safe during this fire season.

Today, Delta Firefighters responded alongside our emergency service partners to a serious motor vehicle incident involving a motorcycle on Scott Road in North Delta.

As a result of the collision, the motorcycle became suspended from a traffic signal above the intersection. Our crews worked throughout the incident to assist with patient care, scene safety, and later the safe removal of the motorcycle from the traffic light.

Incidents like this are difficult for everyone involved, and our thoughts are with the drivers, passengers, their loved ones, and all those impacted by today’s events. We are wishing them a full recovery.

Today also serves as an important reminder to slow down, stay alert, and practice road safety at all times — whether you are driving, riding, cycling, or walking in our community. A moment of caution can make all the difference.

Thank you as well to Delta Police, BCEHS, and all responding crews for their teamwork and professionalism throughout the incident.

For the third annual Mayor’s Charity Ball, Burnsview Secondary Child and Youth Care Worker Curtis Miller once again donated one of his own First Nations carvings to help raise funds for the Delta Firefighters Healthy Snacks Program. He carved the piece alongside select Burnsview Secondary students who have been working on it for several months.

The piece was auctioned on Saturday, May 2 at the Mayor’s Ball, which took place at the North Delta Recreation Centre. The carving raised $5,000 for the Healthy Snacks Program. The program, initiated by firefighters in 2021, ensures that no student goes through their school day hungry by supplying snacks to over 20 schools across the Delta School District. Our community brought the spark 🔥- over $735K raised. 🚒

It was my pleasure to attend the Mayor’s Charity Ball hosted by the Delta Fire Fighters, an evening that reflects the heart of this community.

More than $735,000 was raised in support of the Healthy Snack Program. This is a powerful reminder of what’s possible when people come together with generosity and purpose. Behind every dollar is a child being supported, a family being helped, and a community showing up for one another.

Thankful to have been part of a night that celebrates compassion in action and the incredible impact it creates.

My beautiful wife, and I were honoured to support the Delta Firefighters Charitable Society’s 3rd Annual Mayors Charity Ball which raised over $764,000 towards the Healthy Snack Program - providing healthy snacks to over 3000 kids a day across Delta. Well done

Today we observe Workers’ Day of Mourning.

We remember those who have lost their lives, been injured, or made ill in the workplace, and we stand with their families and coworkers.

Delta Firefighters will be in attendance at City Hall to honour the fallen. Thank you to CUPE 454 Delta Public Employees for hosting this important ceremony.

We remember. We commit. We protect.
