🚤 Lake marker installation officially happened Friday, May 15th as water levels lowered and weather conditions improved.

Each year, the Association, along with a contractor, maintains the red, green, and yellow navigation and hazard markers throughout our waterways. These markers help boaters safely navigate channels, identify hazards, and reduce the risk of damage and accidents on the water.

Association membership dues play an important role in helping fund the purchase, installation, maintenance, and ongoing upkeep of this important yearly program. đź’š

Hello Members,

As many of you have seen in the news and on social media, water levels are continuing to rise. Over the past few days, we have observed a noticeable increase across the system.

The Shadow Lake Association connected with the Trent-Severn Waterway today to better understand what to expect in the coming weeks. A detailed update has been shared with members via email.

We encourage all members to take a moment to inspect their shorelines and secure or relocate any loose items. Please do so with caution, particularly in areas with fast-moving water, where conditions may be unstable.

We will continue to keep you informed as more information becomes available.

What does “Water Safety Statement” actually mean?
It doesn’t mean flooding is expected.
It means conditions are changing and can become hazardous quickly.

Right now across the watershed:

• Water levels remain elevated
• Banks are unstable and slippery
• Ice is weakening
• Flows are faster than normal

Understanding the message matters.

đź’¬ Did you know the difference between Flood Watch and Water Safety?

The spring melt is here! Be aware of changing ice conditions.

Kawartha Conservation has issued a Flood Outlook as rain, warmer temperatures and snowmelt may increase water levels and flows across the watershed over the coming days.

While widespread flooding is not expected at this time, localized flooding in low-lying areas and hazardous conditions near rivers, streams and lakes are possible.

Please take precautions:

• Avoid all watercourses
• Stay back from riverbanks, bridges and culverts
• Keep children and pets away from fast-moving water
• Use caution in low-lying areas
Staff continue to monitor conditions closely and will provide updates if needed.
