Community Futures Week is about celebrating the impact of local businesses and the communities that support them.

As we count down to Community Futures Week on September 21-27, we’re highlighting the difference the Community Futures Program makes across rural Ontario.

In 2025-2026, loans delivered through the Community Futures Program in Ontario impacted 4,486 jobs, supporting businesses, employment, and stronger local economies.

On Labour Day, it’s a timely reminder of the important role small businesses and entrepreneurs play in creating opportunities and strengthening communities across rural Ontario.

What is Community Futures Week?

From September 21-27, Community Futures organizations across Ontario are coming together to celebrate the people, businesses, partnerships, and communities that help make rural Ontario strong.

Community Futures Week is an opportunity to highlight the role Community Futures plays in supporting rural entrepreneurs and communities through business financing, advisory services, and community economic development.

Under the theme Locally Driven, Nationally Supported, we’re celebrating a model built around local knowledge and decision-making, backed by a national network supporting rural communities across Canada.

Follow along for local stories, Community Futures impact, and free virtual sessions for entrepreneurs and small businesses.

Are you a self-identified woman entrepreneur with a business idea or an existing business with potential, but financing has been difficult to access?

The 1000 Islands CDC Women’s Business Growth Program was created to provide self-identified women entrepreneurs with another pathway forward.

With business financing from $1,000 up to $25,000, a progressive lending approach, and business support along the way, the program is designed to meet you where you are today and help you build toward where you want your business to go.

You don't have to start at the maximum. The goal is to help you establish a successful repayment history, strengthen your business and financial confidence, and potentially access additional financing as your business grows.

Start where you are. Build capacity. Demonstrate success. Increase opportunity.

Not sure if the program is right for you? Let’s talk.
