Remembering what happened on D-Day. This is a great write up and amazing photo!
Today, we remember.
82 years ago, on June 6, 1944, thousands of brave Canadian soldiers stormed the shores of Juno Beach as part of the Allied invasion of Normandy. Facing fierce enemy fire, rough seas, and overwhelming odds, they pressed forward with extraordinary courage and determination, helping to turn the tide of the Second World War and begin the liberation of Western Europe.
As we mark the anniversary of D-Day, we honour the Canadians who landed at Juno Beach, those who never came home, and the veterans who carried the memories of that day for the rest of their lives. Their sacrifice secured freedoms that generations have since enjoyed. We will remember them — today and always.
