The sno-bombers will be making adjustments on the ITG throughout the next few days. Please pay special attention to the ITG. This is not because our trails aren’t fantastic. It’s because we are closely monitoring and adjusting as spring conditions come through our network. Hazards can appear with very little notice. Please be aware of these changing conditions and inform us of situations should you come across any.

We hear these stories every year, and we know that 99% of riders are respectful of our landowners and appreciate that they allow us to use their land for the sport we all love. The 1% that don’t are putting our trails in jeopardy. Signs that state “Stay on Trail or Permission Revoked” or “Private Property No Trespassing” are serious!

Re: Trail 44

I have been reading some posts on the SCR FB page and for some reason I can’t add to comments to clarify.
So I will update everyone officially on our page.
Trail 44 is 15 kms of trail that runs from Bracebridge to Fraserburg Rd. It’s been closed for numerous years due to a dispute between a landowner and the Town of Bracebridge who is supporting us in our claim to use this trail. Lawyers are involved now and people have had their safety threatened. So our club and the OFSC decided to remove the trail to keep people safe because as we all know some people ride closed trails.
The trail is on a concession but the landowner states we are on his property. We tried to get it surveyed but there were too many threats against personal safety.
We did not abandon this trail as someone suggested.
We did give this trail up when the OFSC wanted to reduce trails. Seemed to be a logical sacrifice since it hadn’t opened for a few years, had 3 km of road running and was a freaking chore to open due to all the swamps. Maybe stays open three weeks on a big snow year.
When the OFSC gave back our trails after the investment from government Trail 44 came back as an OPTION.
Never say never. But it would take a village of volunteers to get this trail reopened.
That is the nuts and bolts.
No more surmising and suppositions.
You have it directly from the person that has been spearheading this entire situation for the last three years.

Big thanks to John for flattening out everyone’s favourite floating moguls.
