🎉 Happy Birthday, Wes Boldt! 🎉

Today, the EQUIP Leadership Canada (ELC) and Authentic Leadership Network (ALN) family celebrates a remarkable leader, mentor, author, and friend.

Wes, thank you for your faithful service as Global Lead Trainer of ALN, Board Chair of EQUIP Leadership Canada, and author of “Authentic Leadership – Living in Newness of Life”. Through your teaching, writing, and example, you have helped thousands of leaders around the world discover the freedom, rest, and transformation that come from living in the reality of Christ's finished work.

Your passion for seeing leaders equipped in the Gospel of Grace, your commitment to biblical truth, and your willingness to invest deeply in others have left an enduring impact across nations, cultures, and generations. Countless lives have been strengthened because you have faithfully said "yes" to God's calling.

As we celebrate you today, we thank God for your leadership, your friendship, and the legacy you continue to build through the lives of those you serve.

"For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." — Ephesians 2:10

May the Lord bless you abundantly in the year ahead with continued joy, strength, health, and fruitfulness as you lead others into the reality of their new life in Christ.

Happy Birthday, Wes! You are deeply loved, greatly appreciated, and a tremendous blessing to our global family. ❤️

“God sent you at the right time to help us fulfill the vision He gave us for Vietnam: 100,000 new believers by 2033.”

— Dr. Bau Le Van, National Team Leader, CCC Vietnam

Last weekend marked a historic milestone as the ELC team completed the first-ever AL Seminar in Da Nang, Vietnam. Twenty-four influential leaders from Hanoi, Da Nang, and Ho Chi Minh City gathered to explore the Gospel as the foundation of Christian leadership.

Throughout the seminar, God moved powerfully among the participants. Many of these leaders serve faithfully in environments marked by persecution, opposition, and significant restrictions on the advancement of the Gospel. Yet they left renewed, encouraged, and deeply committed to multiplying what they have learned among the people they influence.

Many thanks to our ELC Global Prayer Team who covered this training in prayer, and to a local church in Toronto, whose generosity made this training possible. Your investment in prayer and finances was far more than a seminar—it was a catalytic moment in strengthening leaders who are helping advance a God-given vision for Vietnam: 100,000 new believers by 2033.

And already, we are witnessing remarkable signs of God’s work. Campus Crusade for Christ Vietnam has the governments authorization to screen the “Jesus Film” in theaters across the country. Even more encouraging, between 30% and 40% of viewers have indicated a decision to follow Jesus after watching the film.

This is also a powerful reminder of ELC’s unique calling. We do not plant churches. We do not lead evangelistic campaigns. We do not fight poverty through programs or educational development initiatives. Instead, we equip Gospel-centered leaders who do all these things for the glory of Christ.

We train and develop influential, Spirit-led leaders who plant churches, proclaim the Gospel, serve the poor, transform communities, and disciple nations. By investing in leaders, we multiply Kingdom impact far beyond what any single ministry could accomplish on its own.

Thank you for helping equip leaders who are advancing the mission of Jesus throughout Vietnam and beyond. The fruit of your generosity is already being seen, and by God’s grace, its impact will continue for generations.

WHAT GRACE IS NOT...

📖 “For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say ‘No’ to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age.” — Titus 2:11-12

Grace is often misunderstood. Scripture teaches that grace is more than God’s favour—it is His empowering presence that saves us, teaches us, transforms us, and empowers us to live differently.

❌ Grace is not a license to sin.
“Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means!”— Romans 6:1-2

❌ Grace does not mean passivity.
*”Continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to His good purpose.”— Philippians 2:12-13

❌ Grace is not an excuse for laziness.
“By the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them—yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me.”— 1 Corinthians 15:10

Dallas Willard wisely said: ”Grace is not opposed to effort; it is opposed to earning.”

❌ Grace does not prevent correction in love.
”Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently.” — Galatians 6:1

✅ Grace calls us to Spirit-dependent action.

By grace, Christian leaders are called to:

• Walk by the Spirit
• Renew their minds
• Present themselves to God
• Listen to God’s voice
• Exercise their motivational & spiritual gifts
• Influence others for Christ

The issue is not whether Christians act; the issue is whether their actions flow from self-effort or Spirit-dependence.

True grace does not leave us unchanged. It forms us into the likeness of Christ and empowers us to live for His glory.

Jesus-Centred People: We Have Received Grace and We Have Received a Mission

Based on Romans 1:4–5

Paul’s opening words in Romans remind us that Christianity begins and ends with Jesus Christ. He is “declared to be the Son of God in power… by his resurrection from the dead” (Romans 1:4). The risen Jesus is not merely a historical figure or moral teacher—He is the living Lord who changes lives and sends people into His purpose.

In Romans 1:5, Paul writes, “through whom we have received grace and apostleship.” These two gifts define Jesus-centred people: we have received grace, and we have received a mission.

✨ We Have Received Grace

Everything begins with grace. Before we could serve Christ, we had to be rescued by Christ. Grace is God’s undeserved favour toward sinners. Through Jesus’ death and resurrection, we are forgiven, accepted, and brought into relationship with God.

Grace reminds us that our identity is not built on performance, achievement, or religious effort. We belong to Jesus because of what He has done for us. Grace humbles us, strengthens us, and fills us with gratitude. Jesus-centred people never move beyond grace; they live from it every day.

✨We Have Received a Mission

Paul also says we have received “apostleship,” meaning a calling and a sending. While not everyone is an apostle in Paul’s sense, every believer is given a mission from God. Jesus saves us not only to bless us, but also to send us.

The purpose of this mission is “to bring about the obedience of faith.” God desires people everywhere to trust Christ and follow Him wholeheartedly. Faith is not simply believing information about Jesus; it is surrendering our lives to Him as Lord.

This mission extends “among all the nations.” Jesus-centred people carry God’s heart for the world. Whether across the street or across the globe, we are called to reflect Christ and make Him known.

Why We Do What We Do at EQUIP Leadership Canada

At EQUIP Leadership Canada, this is the heart behind everything we do. We exist because we have first received grace from Jesus Christ, and out of that grace we have received a mission to develop leaders who influence others for God’s kingdom.

Leadership is not simply about building organizations or achieving success. It is about helping people grow into Christlike leaders who live with faith, integrity, and obedience to God’s calling. We invest in leaders because transformed leaders help transform churches, communities, and nations.

Our mission flows from the gospel itself. Just as Paul was sent to bring “the obedience of faith among all the nations,” we are committed to equipping leaders who will make disciples, serve others, and point people to Jesus. Everything we do is ultimately “for the sake of His name.”

✨ Living for His Name

Paul ends with the phrase, “for the sake of his name.” This is the ultimate purpose of grace and mission: the glory of Jesus. Jesus-centred people do not live for their own recognition, comfort, or success. They live so that Christ would be honoured.

We have received grace. We have received a mission. And both are found through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Encouraging story from Mindanao, Philippines!

Meet Jason Udang! Jason is a 26-year-old emerging leader who attended the Authentic Leadership (AL) seminar in February 2023. God used that seminar powerfully in his life. Today, Jason leads a growing ministry and has even launched a Non-Government Organization, Uprising Philippines, to serve young people in his community. In just a few days, he will be bringing his own team to Davao to experience the Authentic Leadership training.

Here is what Jason shared with ELC:

“I really want to teach the AL material to the youth leaders in my network. In fact, it was AL that ignited the passion in me to build a Non-Government Organization, and this coming June 17, I will be bringing some of them to the seminar. I would like to apply to become a full-fledged facilitator and impart this message with the youth in my network. We are currently serving through our Spiritual and Psychosocial Intervention (SPIN) Program at our city juvenile center, where we reach out to 30 minors who are in conflict with the law. We also have a psychologist who trains and equips our facilitators. I am very eager that you will meet some of the youth leaders who are working with me. They have seen me change through the AL training, and they are very excited to undergo this training too! Thank you so much, Doctor Paul, for giving us the opportunity to receive these trainings. The Lord bless you always 🙏🏼”

Stories like Jason’s remind us why we do what we do. One trained leader can become a catalyst for the transformation of many others. Jason’s story is proof that when we invest in one leader, the ripple effects can reach countless others.

Thank you for partnering with Equip Leadership Canada as we raise up the next generation of transformational leaders. Please pray for Jason, his team, and the many young people they are reaching across Mindanao, a region that just suffered another earthquake. 🙏 www.equipleadership.ca/donate

🙏 Please Pray for Mindanao

A powerful earthquake struck off the coast of Sarangani Province in southern Mindanao, Philippines, early Monday morning, causing widespread damage across the region. The quake was felt strongly in Davao, General Santos, and many surrounding communities.

Initial reports indicate more than 30 lives lost and over 100 people injured due to landslides, falling debris, and collapsed structures. Although tsunami warnings have now been lifted, aftershocks continue to be felt throughout the area.

Many families have been affected, and communities across southern Philippines are facing loss, uncertainty, and the challenge of recovery.

As we prepare for our upcoming Authentic Leadership Seminar at Emilia Oasis of Faith in the Island Garden City of Samal, North of Mindanao, on June 17–19, we remain in close contact with our local partners. Together, we are carefully assessing conditions, transportation, power availability, and the safety of seminar venues before making any travel decisions.

Please join us in praying for:
🙏 Comfort for those who have lost loved ones
🙏 Protection for families and communities affected by the disaster
🙏 Strength and wisdom for emergency responders and local leaders
🙏 Safety for all those traveling and serving in the region
🙏 God's peace and hope to prevail during this difficult time

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” — Psalm 46:1

The Power of Kingdom Relationships ✨

One of the greatest blessings in ministry is the gift of long-term Kingdom relationships.

Recently, our EQUIP Leadership Canada team had the privilege of sharing a ministry update with longtime friends and partners who have faithfully supported ELC over the years. This special breakfast gathering was hosted by dear friends of our Executive Director—friendships that span more than 30 years.

Moments like these remind us that ministry is never accomplished alone. Behind every leader equipped, every church strengthened, and every life impacted are faithful people who pray, encourage, give, and serve alongside the mission of ELC: Encouraging Leaders as Jesus Intends.

We are deeply grateful for these Kingdom relationships. After all, we cannot give what we have not first received.

“Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labour… A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” (Ecclesiastes 4:9,12) ✨

Acts 2:38-39 “Peter replied, “Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. This promise is to you, and to your children, and even to people far in the future - all who have been called by the LORD our God.”

This is my encouragement to you younger Christians. Understand and prioritize promoting two things:

1) The basics of our Christian faith - how our broken relationship with God is restored

2) The Spirit’s eternal influence through everyone who is a child of God - “the priesthood of all believers.”

A Year Ago Today…

One year ago, our ELC team witnessed a powerful expression of God’s redeeming grace during an AL Seminar in Montes Claros, Minas Gerais, Brazil.

In this photo, a participant is being prayed for and ministered to as she experiences freedom from guilt and shame. What makes this moment especially meaningful is that the person praying for her had experienced that same freedom just a few months earlier during Session 6: The Gospel and Our Minds.

Having personally encountered God’s healing and truth, she was now being used by Him to help another participant find the same freedom in Christ.

This is the beauty of discipleship and transformation: those who are healed become instruments of healing; those who are set free help others discover freedom.

We continue to be humbled by the way God works through ordinary people to bring extraordinary restoration.

“So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” — John 8:36

What an incredible time at The Peoples Church in Toronto! 🙌

We express our deepest gratitude to the staff of The People’s Church, especially their Missions Team, for their generous investment in our ministry team this past week. We truly appreciate their extravagant hospitality during the missionary retreat in Muskoka and throughout the weekend at their Global Missions Conference. Every moment spent together was cherished, and the exceptional networking platform created enriched our lives and undoubtedly advanced the Kingdom work of all the invited partners. We also gained valuable insights into collaboration as we missionally pursue compassion, evangelism, justice, but also sustainable Sabbath practices.

We had the privilege of connecting with so many amazing people during TPC’s Global Missions Conference. The energy, engagement, and passion for God's mission were truly inspiring.

We're grateful for the meaningful conversations, new connections, and opportunities to share about authentic leadership and ministry development. It was encouraging to see such strong interest in the Authentic Leadership Curriculum and to meet individuals who are eager to grow in their leadership journey.

We look forward to building new partnerships, deepening existing relationships, and seeing more participants engage with the Authentic Leadership Curriculum in the months ahead. Together, we're equipping leaders and strengthening the Church for greater Kingdom impact. 🙌
