🏗️ Advocating for Alexandria's Future

Last Wednesday at the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) Conference, representatives from the Township of North Glengarry and the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry participated in a delegation with Amarjot Sandhu, Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Infrastructure, to advocate for funding from senior levels of government in support of the Alexandria Main Street and Mill Square Revitalization Project.

The delegation highlighted the importance of this joint infrastructure initiative, which will renew aging underground infrastructure, rehabilitate Main Street (County Road 34), improve accessibility, enhance public spaces, and support future housing and economic development opportunities in Alexandria.

Municipal representatives emphasized the need for continued provincial and federal infrastructure funding programs that enable municipalities to undertake critical housing-enabling infrastructure projects and unlock future growth opportunities.

We thank Parliamentary Assistant Sandhu for the productive discussion and MPP Stéphane Sarrazin for his assistance in facilitating and supporting this important delegation.

🏗️ Faire valoir l'avenir d'Alexandria

“Wrapping myself in the quilt made me feel so close to my mom. It was like getting a hug from her from heaven.”

Barbara was a wildlife artist by profession, and a quilter, knitter, and sewist in her free time. She loved creating gifts of love for others and started this quilt as a gift for her daughter, Elizabeth, but a prolonged illness kept her from finishing.

“It made me sad to look at the quilt she had started, and for years I pondered what to do with it, but I just couldn’t let it go. It was such an important piece of my mom’s love for me, even unfinished.”

I recall how excited and “seen” I felt knowing there was a group of volunteers out there who were dedicated to providing closure to unfinished projects of love, such as mine. When I got the finished quilt back this past week, it meant more to me than I think I could ever find the words for.” — Elizabeth

This project was finished by Loose Ends Finisher, Casey.
