Membership Highlight Lieutenant Commander Natasha Woods

Toastmasters Woods completed the Managing Defence in the Wider Security Context (MDWSC) Course, held in the United Kingdom from 1 to 26 June 2026.

The MDWSC is a flagship international education programme delivered by the UK Defence Academy and Cranfield University’s International Section. It is designed to equip senior military and civilian officials with strategic leadership skills for managing defence in transitional democracies and complex security environments.

The course comprises seven core modules: security, governance (including International Humanitarian Law), policy formation, strategy, leadership, defence transformation, and defence management.

It also provides a platform for participants to examine diverse approaches to defence governance and management in both developed and transitional democracies. The programme helps officials identify appropriate policies, principles, and techniques to advance security sector development.

Throughout the programme, Lieutenant Commander Woods took part in case studies and war-gaming exercises, all aimed at strengthening critical thinking and the practical application of defence strategies.

During her time in the UK, she also attended His Majesty The King's Birthday Parade ("Trooping the Colour") and visited several notable institutions, including the United Kingdom Ministry of Defence and the Defence College for Military Capability Integration.
