Chandra-Lee Bascome has been involved with The Salvation Army’s Harbour Light shelter and street outreach ministry in Bermuda for the last 28 years. Throughout this time, she has seen people facing some of the most difficult periods of their lives.

She has witnessed complete transformations, with individuals who arrived while experiencing homelessness and addiction later finding recovery. ❤️‍🩹

Join us today at 12:30pm on the steps of City Hall as we commence our weekend of events celebrating 130 years of faith, service and community in the City of Hamilton.

Local Bermuda Leadership will be involved including Town Crier Ed Christopher, Mayor Michael Branco, His Excellency the Governor of Bermuda, Andrew Murdoch, MP Tinee Furbert, former Mayor Charles Gosling, The Salvation Army Bermuda Area Commander Captain Alfred Esdaille, the Territorial Leaders for The Salvation Army Canada and Bermuda, Commissioners Lee and Debbie Graves, and music from The Salvation Army 130th Anniversary Band, among other special participants.

As we look back, we give God thanks for His faithfulness, for the generations who served before us, and for the impact The Salvation Army has made in Bermuda.
Now it’s time to step forward together!

Join the 130th Anniversary Band and march with us through the streets of Hamilton as we celebrate 130 years of faith, service and community!

We’ll journey from the site of Hamilton Citadel’s first meeting venue, along Court Street, past the location where the Salvation Army's Hamilton Citadel's Booth Memorial Hall once stood on to Angle Street with a special “mark time” at the home of Sister Gwen Doars, our oldest living Salvationist, before finishing at North Street Citadel for the 10:00 a.m. Anniversary Service.

Come walk. Come celebrate. Come give thanks!

As the sun sets on this day, Bermuda remembers Rhondelle Tankard, Boyd Gatton and Robert Higley, and all those whose lives were forever changed by September 11, 2001.
Their names—and their stories—must never be forgotten.
