Unlike Anitha and Jane previously posted, who after being fed return to the garbage dump to struggle for survival in the following days, Alice and others are fed after class and preparing to rest safely in their bedrooms. They are among the children fully supported by BLA.
Currently, we have three categories of children: those under full support, where all needs including accommodation are covered; those whose needs are covered except accommodation because of limited bedrooms; and those still surviving in the garbage dump, receiving meals on weekends while we wait for resources to take them in permanently.

After others had been fed, Anitha and Jane were still quietly eating—rice, meat, cabbage, beans, potatoes, and a ripe banana. Today, it was a full meal prepared just for each child.
Unfortunately, tomorrow they will return to the dumpsite, scavenging again just to survive.

Every Saturday, Back to Life feeds hundreds of children, those under full support at the center and those still collecting on the dump, like Anitha. BLA still hopes to find people like you to help take these children in.

Brings Hope to 446 Children

This Easter, Back to Life Burundi, in partnership with CDH Stephanus (Germany), shared love with 446 children including 323 still surviving on the dumpsite.
They were washed, given new clothes and shoes, and shared a warm meal. For many, it was a moment of dignity, joy, and belonging.
