🏏 A wonderful start to ECS Waasland 2026 🏏

Today, together with my fellow Cricket Vlaanderen board member Peter Beyen, I had the pleasure of attending the opening day of ECS Waasland 2026 at Beveren Cricket Club.

I must congratulate Dildar Angar and the entire organising team for the excellent first impression. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed and introduced to the participating teams and officials. The ground was very well prepared, the atmosphere was friendly and enthusiastic, and most importantly, the tournament started virtually right on schedule. It was clear that a great deal of effort and preparation had gone into making this event possible.

As Chairman of Cricket Vlaanderen, it makes me proud to see one of our member clubs taking such an initiative and creating another opportunity to showcase and develop cricket in Belgium. Organising an event of this scale requires considerable time, energy and commitment, and those efforts deserve our encouragement and support.

I hope that throughout the coming days, members and representatives of our cricket community will find an opportunity to visit Beveren, enjoy the cricket and support the organisers and participating teams. And, as always, constructive ideas that can make such initiatives even better should be welcomed — this is how we continue to grow together.

On a personal note, I was also very pleased to see BTC – Belgian Tile Centre so well represented and acknowledged as one of the sponsors of the event. It was a proud moment to be there both in my role with Cricket Vlaanderen and as a sponsor supporting this event .

Congratulations once again to Dildar Angar, his team, all the officials, volunteers and participating clubs. A very promising first day — wishing you the same energy and success for the rest of ECS Waasland 2026.

Gezocht: leden voor de financiële commissie

Het intern reglement van Cricket Vlaanderen VZW bepaalt dat een financiële commissie het bestuursorgaan bijstaat.

Je vindt ons intern reglement op onze website, link onderaan deze post. Artikel 15 op bladzijde 25 beschrijft de financiële commissie.

In het kort de rol van de financiële commissie:

- Adviseert het bestuursorgaan over financiële aangelegenheden

- Waakt erover, maakt wensen en bezwaren kenbaar aan het bestuursorgaan

- Doet voorstellen om de financiële situatie te verbeteren

- Doet voorstellen om de financiële processen efficiënter te maken

- Is bevoegd om het bestuursorgaan of een commissie te adviseren over:

* Vaststelling of wijziging van lidgeld

* Overeenkomsten met financiële impact

Onze penningmeester, Peter Beyen, is de facto lid van de financiële commissie. Wij hebben onze moederfederatie BCF gevraagd om iemand af te vaardigen.

Daarnaast zoeken wij nog iemand van onze leden. De geschikte kandidaat hoeft geen deel van het bestuur uit te maken van een club. Kennis van financiën en boekhouding is wel vereist om deze rol te kunnen opnemen.

Een ideale kans voor iemand die dit op zijn CV wil zetten.

De taak is onbezoldigd. De financiële commissie vergadert 4 keer per jaar.

Wanted: Members for the Financial Committee

The internal regulations of Cricket Vlaanderen state that a financial committee supports the board of directors.

You can find our internal regulations here; Article 15 on page 25 describes the financial committee.

In short, the role of the financial committee:

- Advises the board of directors on financial matters

- Monitors and communicates concerns and recommendations to the board

- Makes proposals to improve the financial situation

- Makes proposals to make financial processes more efficient

- Is authorized to advise the board or a committee on:

* Setting or modifying membership fees

* Agreements with financial impact

Our treasurer, Peter Beyen, is a de facto member of the financial committee. We have asked our parent federation, Belgian Cricket Federation (BCF), to appoint a representative.

In addition, we are looking for one more member from within our community. The ideal candidate does not need to be part of a club’s board. However, knowledge of finance and accounting is required to take on this role.

An excellent opportunity for someone looking to add this experience to their CV.

This is an unpaid position. The financial committee meets four times per year.
