Aachol Trust is a non-profit and non-political charity organisation. Our strategies include preventive undertakings, capacity building, community mobilisation, motivation and ensured and effective use of resources available in the community, ensuring positive changes in people’s life. Aachol has established partnership with various NGOs and Government Organisations to achieve its goals and objectives. Aachol has focused in health, education, employment generation programs with many private and government organisations both here and abroad; ie Dhaka Medical College Hospital, Bangladesh College of Physicians & Surgeons, Bangladesh Environmental Authority, Australia NZ Burns Association, Interplast Australia NZ etc. Over the years Aachol’s Founder and Chairman personally coordinated many Australian medical & surgical team visits to Bangladesh, bringing-in world class Australian/NZ surgeons and medical personnel and helped training 1000s of Bangladeshi surgeons, physios, anaesthetists, nurses and many more; mainly in the burns and maxillofacial area. 1000s poor patients in Bangladesh also being helped directly by providing them free life changing operations by the Australian/NZ surgeons that a local medical team wouldn’t have been able to provide due to the lack of facilities and opportunities. Aachol’s Chairman, also personally instrumental in finding/arranging/coordinating between 10-20 children who are of the less fortunate from Bangladesh in their life savings operations abroad; in Australia and India; some of these cases had also claimed worldwide notoriety through media due to their surgical complexity; namely Akhtar, Trishna and Krishna. Aachol also currently looking after a number of poor children and their families; for their wellbeing. These children’s/young adults and families are victims of various criminal acts by others, ie acid attacks, childhood prostitution etc and Aachol providing all their financial, social and moral support. Aachol is also currently running a Mobile Health Clinic project. Under this program we have a fully equipped ambulance that travels to various locations in and around Dhaka 5-6 days a week. The services includes free medical consultations with free basic medications with our fully paid doctors, nurses and support staff; also covering a total population base of more than 550,000 people. Among them we are providing daily health care for 2199 children in six different schools, where children from the very poor are provided with an opportunity to study. In addition, we provide health care to 750 workers in two garment factories and our program can reach up to more than approximately 540,000 people in four communities/slums that mainly comprises garment workers, day labourers and other marginalised people. We also cover a village nearby Dhaka, called ‘Konda’ . Aachol also has been working in environmental issues with many environment organisations. Aachol distributes and helps plant trees and plants across the city of Dhaka, joining with other organisations in order to promote cleaning up waterways that are being polluted by industrial wastes and other causes, and helps with other activities protecting the environment. We are closely involved in human right promotion through ensuring social security for the poor by promoting safe living, employment and education.
