🇧🇼🐴 Welcoming Maun Animal Welfare Society (MAWS) in Botswana to the AAA Family 🐴🇧🇼

AAA is proud to announce our new partner in Ngamiland, Botswana — the Maun Animal Welfare Society (MAWS). Together, we’re launching a mobile outreach program to bring veterinary care and welfare support to working donkeys and horses in remote villages.

✨ Between May and December 2026, MAWS will reach 8–10 villages, providing treatment for 300–400 equines.
✨ Services include deworming, wound care, farrier support, and humane harness replacements.
✨ Outreach clinics will be conducted with local leadership (Kgosi) and supported by volunteer veterinary surgeons.

Working equines in Botswana plough fields, carry water, transport goods, and sustain rural livelihoods — yet many suffer from untreated wounds, parasites, and harmful equipment. This partnership ensures they receive the compassion, dignity, and care they deserve.

Today we honor the 200+ million working animals worldwide — donkeys, horses, mules, camels, and elephants — whose labor sustains families and communities across Africa, Asia, and beyond.

🐴 From Trauma to Gentle Care: Rescued Donkeys in Israel 🐴

At the Hope Complex in Israel, AAA and our partner Starting Over Sanctuary are transforming lives. In March, 67 donkeys, two mules, and one mare received individualized care — from eye surgery and dental treatment to rehabilitation for fungal infections, abscesses, and hoof injuries.

✨ Some timid donkeys gained confidence and joined new herds.
✨ Frail and elderly animals found safe spaces tailored to their needs.
✨ Two elderly mules began special diets under close observation.

In March, AAA and our partner Zambezi Working Donkey Project (ZWDP) reached hundreds of donkeys across rural Zambia with vital veterinary care, humane equipment, and owner education.

- 60 donkeys dewormed to protect against parasites.
- 261 donkeys dipped to guard against ticks, fleas, and biting insects.
- 16 donkeys treated for harness‑related wounds.
- 8 humane harnesses distributed to prevent future injuries.

In March, AAA and our partner Friendicoes delivered lifesaving care to 930 working horses, ponies, and donkeys through their mobile clinic, while the paravet team provided follow‑up treatment for 538 more animals.
