Visit website for email and contact details for your local centre. We work in partnership with other services and the community to offer a range of activities and group programs for parents and carers to promote healthy, happy families and give

children a positive start to school. We also aim to strengthen the community by participation of community members in the planning and provision of activities. From the Department of Education & Communities....

Schools as Community Centres (SaCCs) are located in or alongside public schools in communities where social disadvantage and difficulty in accessing support services is recognised as high. SaCCs are funded based on research which highlights the importance of: The early years for children's development; the role of parents as children's first teacher; and the community fabric as an essential element in gaining good outcomes for children. As the focus in on the years prior to school and those first few years of schooling, public schools were identified as a focal point and resource for the community where families can feel comfortable and safe. Local facilitators and project staff work with communities, families and service providers to offer a number of activities and programs in response to specific needs of the local community. Through collaboration and consultation SaCCs build relationships with a range of Government and non-Government organisations to provide a broad spectrum of prevention and early intervention strategies in support of families and young children. SaCCs are a Government funded, inter-agency initiative managed by the Departments of: Community Services; Health; Housing; and Education and Training, with the Department of Education and Training being the lead agency responsible for the administration of the program. The Schools as Community Centres program is part of the NSW Government's commitment to Social Justice and improving supports for families with young children.
